Terrific Tasting Experience with Exploding Flavors - Arrived into a refuge during an afternoon rain -- my tasting station had been set up with 7 mezcals and accompanying mole samples to taste. Each pairing was remarkably different and delicious. Carlos is very fun to chat with, is very knowledgeable, and gave some suggestions for later activities.

This was a super fun... - This was a super fun experience and one I would definitely recommend when visiting Oaxaca. Our group was small it was myself and another couple who were really sweet. I loved that our group was small because it allowed us to go at our own pace, ask questions, and have more personalized conversation with our host. I think her name was Marisol, but I could totally be remembering incorrectly. I enjoyed tasting all of the different moles and mezcals and learning more about their origin, flavor profiles, and history. In total we had a welcome drink and tried 7 different mezcals and moles. I did not feel rushed at all during this experience, which I really appreciated. Also, I have to give a special thanks to the person who I think was the owner? As I was traveling by myself he helped me navigate an uncomfortable taxi situation, advocated on my behalf, and gave me advice for helping me safely get to my next destination. I really appreciated that extra support and attention as a solo, female traveler. If I were to come back to Oaxaca I would look for other experiences this company provides.

A tasting to remember - What a great experience! We had no idea there was such a variety of mezcal, let alone mole! Daniel Rodriguez Gonzales, the sommelier, did a fantastic job of explaining the differences and the best ways to enjoy the mezcals and moles together. And everything was so well and beautifully organized that it made all the complexities enjoyable rather than confusing. I highly recommend this experience!

A highlight of our Oaxaca visit - What a great experience! We loved the tasting and our host, Carlos, was informative and enthusiastic. He made everything fun and interesting. We even met another couple there and went out after for beers and dancing! I highly recommend this, especially if you're curious about mole or mezcal. This was very different from the mezcals we've had in the US. Plus, all of the moles are vegetarian so we could try them all. Great experience and worth every penny.

I came for the Mole, and stayed for the Mezcal! - The Mezcal & Mole tasting with a Certified Sommelier was hands down one of the best parts of our trip! Our sommelier was an absolute gem—so knowledgeable, sweet, and full of passion for what she does. She made the whole experience fun, approachable, and incredibly memorable. Each mole and mezcal pairing was thoughtfully curated and tasted absolutely amazing. It was fascinating to learn about the flavor profiles, how they complemented each other, and the rich history behind each recipe. You could truly taste the love and tradition in every bite and sip. We left with a deeper appreciation for mezcal, mole, and Oaxacan culture—and several delicious samples to take home. If you're looking for something unique, delicious, and educational, don't miss this experience. Highly recommended!

Should be the first tour you do in Oaxaca! - No matter whether you are a neophyte or expert of mezcal or mole, don’t miss this experience!! Daniel and the team are knowledgeable, approachable, and fun - you won’t spend a better 2-3 hours anywhere in OAX . The mezcals are interesting, unique and worth the booking on their own. Daniel, a master sommelier, has spent years finding the best expressions of seven different mezcals that give you an appreciation of the variety available. The experience and fun compounds when the moles (all excellent!) arrive and you savor the different combinations. I promise that you and your group will enjoy discussing pairings, preferences, and flavor profiles. If you are looking for gifts - go no further! You can purchase anything you sample during the tasting in easy to transport packaging. There is zero pressure to buy, however, the quality of the products speak for themselves. I think anyone would be hard pressed to leave without a token purchase to stoke their memory. If I could return to Oaxaca for the first time again I would make sure this was the first ting I booked. Don’t miss Mezcal y Mole Oaxaca!!

Fun relaxing and educational experience - We had an amazing time. Arturo did a great job explaining everything and recovered well from the impromptu move forced by the rain. My husband and I did not think either of us were mole fans. Turns out we just needed to find the right one for us and thanks to Arturo’s knowledge we actually ended up buying two to take home with us . I highly recommend this experience.
