The great thing about this tour is... - The great thing about this tour is that you leave early and go straight to Hierve el Agua. We arrived before there were many people and we could stay quite a while enjoying the place quietly. For me, it's the best way to meet him

Go with Paul Lopez! He treats you like. local! - Of course, Hierve el Agua is a must-see—but the real question is: who do you go with? By some magic, we chose the half-day tour with Paul, and we couldn’t be happier we did. If you want to be treated like a local and enjoy a small, intimate experience, Paul’s half-day trip is the way to go. Before the hike, we stopped at a local spot for a meal prepared by a beautiful, loving family. The food was out-of-this-world delicious, infused with so much care and heart. I’ve had friends do this hike, but not like this. Paul guides you down to the bottom of the falls, where the view is nothing short of epic. He also brings along an incredible guide, Jaime, who shares fascinating insights about the flora and fauna—and somehow manages to take the best photos of you and your family. One of my favorite parts was how Paul handled the heat. Another woman and I lagged behind at times, but he never rushed us. He’d stop to talk about butterflies, share history, offer water, and make sure we felt comfortable. Meanwhile, the rest of the group could go ahead with Jaime to enjoy the gorgeous lake. The drive felt safe, and along the way Paul pointed out mezcal factories and special landmarks. It was the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and care. I highly recommend this trip.

The destination was out of this world gorgeous, and our guide Paul was very knowledgeable and good at English. The stop for food - We had an amazing day with Paul and the small group of guests. The pickup and drive was smooth. Paul was an excellent guide, and even helped with extra water when we needed it. The stop for food was local (big plus) and very tasty. We had chosen this tour to avoid the Thule tree and the distillery that comes with all other tours. It did not disappoint, we were not taken to a tourist shop to buy things. Hierve al Agua was amazing, out of this world. The hikes were a little strenuous for someone as out of shape as me, but with the help from a local guide and Paul I managed. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a "one of a kind" nature experience and a good guide. 5 out of 5 from us.

Tremendous trip to Hierve el Aqua! - Our guide, Paul, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about Hierve el Aqua, as well as the surrounding region which my family group had looks of questions about. He was also very flexible and patient with us.

Breathtaking Views - Visiting Hierve el Agua was one of the best parts of my trip to Oaxaca, and having Paul as our tour guide made it even better! The views were absolutely breathtaking. The petrified waterfalls, mineral pools, and surrounding mountains were like something out of a postcard. Paul was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing the history and natural beauty of the area. He gave us interesting background on the formations, led us on a scenic hike, and made sure everyone had time to relax and enjoy the pools. His energy and warmth made the experience feel personal and unforgettable. The drive up was a bit rough, with a moderate hike up the mountain, but totally worth it once you see the view. I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Oaxaca — and if you can, ask for Paul!

Paul was a great guide,... - Paul was a great guide, extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and speaks excellent English. This trip is also great because it’s Hierve el Agua only — a much shorter and more flexible trip than most of the other Hierve el Agua tours.

Great half day hiking trip with mineral pools - Paul was an excellent guide and very experienced with the area, its history, and all flora and fauna (he’s also a biologist!). The hike down (and back up) to the base of the falls is a bit strenuous given the incline but well worth it, especially when cooling off in the beautiful natural mineral pools afterward. This is the ideal trip to get out of Oaxaca but still make it back to the city by 2:00~ so you can keep exploring!
