Haleiwa Town Food Trucks - The driver was excellent. He told us how we should do things in order to get to see the best of everything at the Dole Plantation we could in the amount of time we had. Then on to Haleiwa town and he said the food trucks had some of the best food and he was right on. I had a shrimp platter, my wife had a seafood combo and our daughter had a shrimp plate with the pineapple mango smoothie inside of. a pineapple. Probably the best food we had all week.

Enjoyable and convenient - I really wanted a convenient way to get to the Dole Plantation. And this checked all the boxes. My only negative comment would be that I would have liked more time at Dole and less at Haleiwa. At Dole we had just enough time to ride the train and quickly get a dole whip (so yummy). We didn’t have any time to do the maze or see the gardens.

Great excursion that is not go, go, go! It was laid back and enjoyable. - Our driver was a great storyteller and shared the history of Hawaii in a relatable way. We took the early tour and upon the advice of our guide rode the train at Dole first. By the time we got off the train, the line was very long. Haleiwa was a quaint town. We enjoyed browsing the shops. Overall, good excursion.

Not dropped off at our hotel - We enjoyed seeing dole plantation snd riding on the train, the stop at Haleiwa town was ok- We were to be dropped off where we were picked ip this morning and we were not, the driver told us to get off at the ABC store which was .5 mile from where we were picked up this morning at our hotel, Hilton Hawaiian village. I said repeatedly thst this was not where we were picked up this morning - he said the hotel isn’t far snd told us which direction to go. But the point was he didn’t do what he was supposed to do

Not worth it! - The reviews of this prior to booking were so positive. However, our trip was not anything like the reviews. The driver was on time and did pick us up at our hotel and said he was helping another driver. So he drove us to a different location to connect onto a bigger bus. That driver was pleasant but did not utter one word, there was no explanation of where we were or going. Once we arrived, he let us out and said to be back in 2 hours. Not much more than that. The Dole plantation was very confusing to figure out where to go. There are 3 ticket options once you arrive, train, self guided tour, and/or the maze. Problem was the lines for all of these were so long, we spent 30 minutes just buying tickets. We only did the maze because the train was an hour wait and the tour did not even have a guide or docent so it was not worth it. Also we would not have time to also go to the gift shop and have the Dole Whip. The maze was underwhelming, hot and I could not wait to get out. The gift shop was massive and beautiful and super crowded. The Dole Whip was good. We bought lots of Dole souvenirs only to find out later they were imported from China! Not even local. They sold See's Candy with a Hawaiian packaging that turned out to be simple almond clusters I could have gotten back home. If you shop, READ where food you are buying is from! By the time we did the maze and the gift shop, we had to rush to eat our ice cream and jump back on the bus. The bus then took us to the small town but there was no commentary except to say we were passing the best beach for snorkleing and turtles but we did not have time to stop! What? That was a disappointment. The town was cute, we ended up eating at the food trucks and walking around. We got back on the bus at the appointed time and again, the ride back was silent except when we asked the driver to turn up the AC only to be told it was on...it was stiffling on the bus. We rode for over an hour in a hot and humid bus and by the time we got back to Waikiki, jumped off at the first stop because we could not breathe anymore. We ended up taking an Uber back to our hotel. All in all, if you go to the Dole plantation, you need a minimum of 3 hours there to do all of the activities especially high season when lines will be longer and the place more crowded. You will need 2 hours in the little town so you can have time to find a place to eat and do some shopping. I was so excited for this trip and so ultimately disappointed. The trip was too rushed, driver gave no insight or commentary, AC not working.
