- Waikiki Beach - Waikiki is a lively neighborhood famous for its surf beach, with high-rise hotels lining the shore. Kalakaua Avenue and nearby streets are home to designer fashion stores, and the area comes alive at night with waterfront cocktail bars, fine dining, and Kuhio Beach hula shows. The Honolulu Zoo features Komodo dragons and wandering peacocks, while the Waikiki Aquarium’s reef exhibit houses parrotfish and urchins.
- Diamond Head State Monument - This site features the Emelia Earhart monument and offers iconic views of Oahu. During whale season, from late November through March, there will be stops to view the passing whales.
- Halona Blowhole - A popular lookout point offering panoramic views of the ocean, cliffs, and neighboring islands. Halona Beach Cove, a small sandy area on Oahu’s southeastern shore, gained fame from the 1953 film “From Here to Eternity,” featuring a love scene with Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr. There will be a quick stop for photos, ensuring a swift visit to stay ahead of other groups.
- New Hawaii’s Treasures - Visit the Hawaii Treasure Shop for a wonderful selection of beautifully designed jewelry and unique souvenirs. Enjoy a restroom break while exploring local Hawaiian handmade items.
- Nu’uanu Pali Lookout - Nuʻuanu Pali is a dramatic cliff and lookout on Oʻahu, Hawaii, offering sweeping views of the windward coast (Kaneohe, Kailua) and known for its strong, constant winds. It’s a historic site where King Kamehameha I won a decisive battle in 1795, and is rich in Hawaiian legends, including stories of spirits and the goddess Pele. The Pali Highway runs through tunnels at the cliff’s base, connecting Honolulu with the windward side.
- Leonard’s Bakery Malasada Truck - Enjoy a freshly made malasada, prepared to order.
- Kualoa Ranch - A brief stop at Kualoa Ranch for sightseeing, visiting the gift shop, and taking pictures, if time allows.
- Kuilima Farm Stand - Visit an amazing fruit stand offering a variety of farm-fresh fruits. Try a freshly fried banana lumpia “Turon” from Virgil’s Fruit Farm Stand. Available fruits include papaya, pineapples, kiwi, grapes, cucumbers, guava, watermelon, coconuts, and sugar cane.
- Waimea Botanical Gardens, Oahu - Explore the world-famous Waimea Botanical Garden before reaching the Waimea Waterfall. Waimea Valley, a site of historical cultural significance on Oahu’s North Shore, includes historical structures like stone terraces and walls from the Hawaiian monarchy era. Enjoy the picturesque waterfall in Waimea Valley, which cascades into a pool surrounded by lush foliage. Swimming is permitted, with life vests provided at no extra cost. Entrance to Waimea is discounted at $20 per adult, with no waiting in lines. The 3/25 mile walk may not suit everyone, so consider the $20 round-trip golf cart ride per person. The path to the waterfall is natural and rocky, so bringing reef or water shoes is optional.
- North Shore Macadamia Nut Company - A fantastic place to enjoy Hawaiian treats and shop for gifts and souvenirs. Sample macadamia nuts and Kona macadamia nut coffee. Restrooms are available.
- Dole Plantation - Please note that this tour will not include time for the maze or train ride, as both take over two hours. In 1899, James Dole, at 22, moved from Massachusetts to Honolulu and purchased 64 acres in Oahu’s central plains. After experimenting with various crops, he chose pineapple, starting a pineapple empire. Dole established canneries in Wahiawa and Honolulu Harbor, leading to nationwide popularity. The introduction of automatic pineapple peelers further boosted business. In 1950, a small fruit stand was set up in Dole’s fields, and in 1989, a plantation-style home was built as an archive and living museum honoring James Dole’s work and life. The stop is limited to 30 to 45 minutes, so there won’t be time for the train or maze due to long lines.
- Liliha Bakery - Enjoy a sit-down lunch at Liliha Bakery on Nimitz Road, featuring famous dishes like miso butterfish, loco moco, grilled garlic shrimp, oxtail soup, BLT, teriyaki chicken, beef or pork, chicken salad, hamburgers, and clam chowder soup.
- Iolani Palace - Iolani Palace is a restored symbol of Hawaiian national identity and is recognized as the spiritual and physical multicultural center of Hawaii. Built in 1882 by King Kalakaua, it was the home of Hawaii’s last reigning monarchs and served as the official royal residence and the center of the Kingdom’s political and social life until the monarchy’s overthrow in 1893. It has been a National Historic Landmark since 1962 and is the only official royal residence in the United States.
- King Kamehameha Statue - The majestic statue of King Kamehameha I stands proudly in front of Ali’iolani Hale in Downtown Honolulu. It is a casting of one of Hawaii’s most beloved rulers, Kamehameha the Great, who unified all the islands and welcomed westerners. Kamehameha was a revered warrior and leader, uniting Hawaii into one royal kingdom in 1810 after years of conflict. He promoted foreign trade and technology while avoiding foreign rule. The 18-foot bronze statue depicts him extending his hand in a welcoming gesture of aloha. King Kamehameha commissioned Ali’iolani Hale as the royal palace of the Hawaiian Monarchy. Built in the Italian Renaissance Revival style, its name means ‘House of the Heavenly King’. Ali’iolani Hale became an administrative building and now houses the Supreme Court of Hawaii and the Judiciary History Center.
- Shimazu Shave Ice - If there’s room for more, enjoy some of the best shaved ice on the island at Waiola Shaved Ice. This quaint, pint-sized grocery store is a local favorite for its counter-serve shave ice and ice cream.
