Best Oahu Tour! - Austin met us out front of our hotel a little before 7:00 am. He brought Malasadas (Portuguese donuts - no hole) from Leonard's Bakery. They were warm and delicious. Austin informed us that the other family that had booed the tour for that day had to cancel last minute due to an illness. Austin said they day was ours to do what we wanted to. We could see what we wanted to, stay as long as we wanted, skip something if we were not interested. That Saturday was one of the best times we've ever had anywhere. First stop was an over-look view of Honolulu which was simply stunning and we had the place to ourselves. Second stop - Buddhist Temple. Waited less than 5 minutes for them to open. Austin explained that we were arriving before the tour buses. Austin gave us some bird food and showed us how the birds would eat out our hand. It wasn't too long before the tour buses started showing up and dumping 30 - 60 people at a time. Time to go. Third stop - Botanical Gardens / Waterfall. On our way to this stop, Austin pointed out the "Stairway To Heaven." The Navy used the stairs every morning to climb the mountain to access communications facility. He showed us a video that shot. He had climbed the stairs and launched a drone. He shot a video of his wife climbing the stairs. The view was unbelievable. There have been many movies filmed at the botanical gardens Jurassic Park, Hunger Games & Jumanji just to name a few. Beautiful hick up to the waterfall. Austin was full of information and tried his best to answer all of my questions. Next stop (#4) Turtle Beach - On the drive here, we drove passed the Dole Plantation. We were in luck and 8-10 sea turtles coming to shore to feed. We also decided to go for a swim. Stop #5 was a macadamia nut farm. Of course we had to go threw the farm's store. Besides all things Macadamia, I have had some really really good mango ice cream. Last stop,#6, was the best. Austin took us to the beach where the TV show "Lost " filmed. Outstanding views. Hardly anyone else on the beach. Played in the waves for as long as we wanted. Austin made the day and our trip. He made my wife and I feel like he was showing the island of Oahu to family/friends instead of people he had just met.. We really appreciated everything he did.
