Great way to spend some time - We really enjoyed this excursion. We were lucky that we traveled on a small tour. There were only 10 of us. It was a nice drive to the park and out guide JAC was fun, entertaining, knowledgeable and gave us helpful ideas of spots to try. JAC knew his stuff. He identified many plants and fruits for us. He allowed us to go at a pace that felt safe for us. We never felt rushed. I say this because there are parts of the trail (especially when we descended) that was wet, rocky and very slippery. Happily, the team provided us with walking sticks as well! Some reviews wrote that you can do this on your own. Absolutely, you can but the walk would be without the expertise of the guide. JAC made the trip for us. All in all a great day and a great guide!

Great guide. George was... - Great guide. George was lovely. Took the time to talk to all members of the group and was very knowledgeable. The walk to the falls was amazing despite the rain but that did mean the falls themselves were spectacular.

A great hike in the rainforest ! - We had Jak and Mei as our guides (Jak for english speakers, Mei for Japanese speakers) and they just did a fantastic job. This tour is very convenient for anyone staying near enough to the Waikiki area where it departs. Our group size was ~20, we onboarded the minibus from the Hyatt Regency tour departure spot on Koa Ave. The tour makes a stop at the company office where drinks, ponchos, and other things can be purchased. Ponchos are a must have item - the rainforest is a very wet place (note on the poncho: you may want to bring your own ; the ones sold are very affordable but also quite thin and may have a hole or two). If possible, have shoes that can accommodate water well and that are suitable to walk on rocks under a shallow running stream. Once the bus arrives at the parking lot of the Manoa Falls trail starting point (a ~20-30 min ride from Waikiki area peppered with lots of good information shared by Jak and Mei on restaurants to try and some historic locations), you get your walking sticks and bug repellent which are included in the package and you have one last chance to buy a poncho and/or go to the restrooms. After that, the trail starts. It is a wonderful walk in the forest, with beautiful sceneries, surprising discoveries such as the shampoo ginger plant, and some opportunities to collect kukui nuts, guava, and depending on the season possibly avocados. You get rewarded in the end with a 150 feet waterfall that just by itself makes the whole trip worth it (especially if it is raining). The trail is manageable and very moderate. Walking sticks are very helpful esp. when walking back. Jak and Mei provide a lot of guidance and useful information throughout. After the ~1.5 miles trail the bus takes you to the Tantalus lookout for a delicious lunch of fresh sandwiches and another round of photos as you have a sweeping view of all of Honoluku (and a bit beyond). The duration is well calibrated (left at 9:15, came back at the same spot around 2:15) and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience as a family. Thanks again to Jak and Mei for this incredibly enjoyable experience.

Excellent tour - Jason and Anon are incredible - Jason is a fountain of incredible and fun facts, and his own history is amazing too. The pickup was at a nearby hotel and easy, the tour packed. The drive to the falls was lovely, and the hike s great - I will say, don't do the hike if you have never hiked before, it is a little tricky. But there are lots of folks and someone to help if you slip a little. We then went to the state park, and had lunch with a lovely panorama of the island. The veggie sandwich was decent, I still recommend carrying snacks since it's about five hours from beginning to end. They have a lot of other tours which seem great too, if I had the time left. You get dropped off at your pickup spot or anywhere else close by if that's more convenient, so that's really helpful too.

Nature experience far exceeds expectations - It was a wonderful nature experience that far exceeded my expectations. For me, it was a new experience I could have in Hawaii. Delicious sandwiches from a restaurant that also has lines for lunch. The view from the hill was also amazing. Also, the humor of the tour guide, Susumu-san (Japanese name) every two words made everyone smile. I appreciate your thoughtfulness.

A Good Way to See One of Oahu’s Waterfalls - George, our guide, took good care of us. The falls were the destiny but the hiking journey was beautiful and just the right amount of a challenge. Bring good hiking shoes!

Jason and Anon - Jason grew up in the area so had great stories as well as restaurant recommendations. Anon translated for the Japanese guests. The rain made for some slippery spots on rocks and mud. The guides did bring walking sticks for us and there were cut-outs in the steps that were steep. There were stops for restrooms and small gift shopping. The sandwiches were very good and a bottle of water was provided at lunch.
