Nairobi to Aberdare National Park

Aberdare National Park - The journey begins with a morning pickup from either the airport or your hotel in Nairobi. Travel to Aberdare National Park, passing through lush coffee and tea plantations en route to The Aberdares Country Club, situated on the slopes of Mweiga Hill. After enjoying lunch, continue to the Ark tree lodge, nestled in the forest on the mountain slopes of the Aberdares Mountains at an elevation of 7,000 feet. This remarkable lodge offers high-altitude wildlife viewing, featuring rare animals such as the Giant forest hog, Bush pig, Tree Hyrax, large Spotted Genet, and the elusive Bongo Antelope. Wildlife can be observed from various levels – outside, where you can fully experience the sights, sounds, and scents, or inside, where you can relax with a warm cup of tea. Guests can request to be awakened at night if their favorite animals appear. A herd of Elephants might be just a few feet away, and with some luck, a Leopard or a large male Lion might make an appearance.

Aberdare to Samburu National Reserve

Samburu National Reserve - After a morning breakfast, depart Aberdare for Samburu National Reserve. This morning’s journey takes you by road to Kenya’s northern frontier. Wild and rugged, Samburu is stunningly beautiful with its arid savannahs nourished by the picturesque Uaso Nyiro River. It is one of Kenya’s most protected areas and is home to species unique to the region north of the equator, such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebras, and Beisa oryxes. Overnight stay at Samburu Sopa Lodge or a similar accommodation.

Full Day Samburu National Park

Samburu National Reserve - As dawn breaks in golden hues, the day begins in the bush with a view of the river from the tent’s veranda, accompanied by a steaming cup of coffee. Before the dew evaporates, embark on a quest to spot Elephants, Lions, Leopards, and Cheetahs thriving in the reserve’s grasslands and acacia woodlands. The day alternates between exploring the bush and relaxing in the comfortable lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at Samburu Sopa Lodge or a similar accommodation.

Samburu to Nairobi

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport - After breakfast, depart the lodge and drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the city around lunchtime. Drop-off at the Nairobi hotel or airport for your flight back home.
