Fantastic trip to Inner Farne - We had a fantastic final day of our holiday on a Billy Shiel’s trip to Inner Farne. The weather was quite windy as we set off but the crew were prepared with “bags”. The skipper explained that he would be going to make the crossing to the island as ‘gentle as possible’. The sun came out and we had a lovely trip to Inner Farne. He advised us to wear hats as the terns can be quite naughty! We were lucky enough to see several puffins despite most of the pufflings having fledged. The chapel is very pretty, apparently the puffins enjoy visiting it as well. On our return trip to Seahouses, the skipper took us around to the other islands to see seals, guillemots and gannets. He even sailed the route taken by Grace Darling and her father during their rescue mission. He pointed out gannets, seals, puffins and pufflings as we approached the harbour. We did not get his name or his crew mate’s name but we would like to thank them for a fabulous end to our holiday. We were on 11am Inner Farne trip on Friday 1st August

Fantastic trip! Highly recommend - The guide had extensive knowledge of the Islands and the wildlife that inhabited them. If you go before July, I'm sure you'll see more puffins, but we weren't disappointed by how many we still saw.

Amazing day out, very well organised. - Excellent day out. Saw hundreds of puffins and lots of seals. Plus arctic terns and lots of other birds. Well organised, left on time, friendly staff. Getting on the island was the highlight. We were free to roam for an hour and observe the birds in their natural habitat. There was only one other group on the island so felt extra special to not have hoards of people there. Highly recommend. Five stars without hesitation.

Magical - If you want to see yourself as a David Attenborough then take this trip during the breeding season and sit and watch all the wonders of nature flying around, the favourite being puffins!
Though £15 to none NT members even so this is well worth the entry fee.
One warning though, wear a hat to protect yourself from dive bombing arctic terns.
When you are sat on the island I can only wish that we had more than one hour there.

Excellent value for money - Originally booked for Tuesday but due to a he weather National Trust closed the island. Had a text off George to either offer a full refund or to rebook on another day. We chose the Thursday and was not disappointed

You must go if you like birds and wildlife - If you like birds, this is a must. Phenomenal. Go May-July while the terns and puffins are there. And wear a hat, because the terns nest right by the path and dive-bomb you to protect their nests.

A trip worth doing - Loved everything about the trip and lucky enough to have a lovely sunny day with calm seas. Stunning views, good to see the seals and amazing to get so close to the various nesting guillemots, gulls and puffins. A real treat to land on the Inner Farne Island and speak to the knowledgeable NT guys. I loved the little chapel too. The Golden Gate boat team, gave us all informative information relating to the Islands and the story of Grace Darling during our trip.

Trip great, NT boarding pass woman exceedingly rude. - I took my son, who has autism, to see the birds on Inner Farne. We have been on this trip several times and we are always treated well by the crew of the Golden Gate. However, when we went to buy our pass to get onto the island, I forgot to say I needed a concession for my son, and only realised after I had paid. When I pointed this out to the woman, she literally shouted at us, 'Well you should have said before you paid'. She was SO rude! She grudgingly refunded the ticket, but it was obvious that she was not happy to do this. Does she speak to all disabled people and their carers in this way? Happily, once we got to the jetty the crew were very courteous, friendly and helpful. They helped my son climb on board as well as myself. The trip was fabulous! Sadly, the puffins had left, but we saw kittiwakes, shags, razorbills, gannets and some seals too. My son really enjoyed it. Pity the excursion was marred by the woman in the NT kiosk!

Added fee , ouch - Think we saw a couple of Puffins in the water, but it was the wrong month really.
We did see plenty of Seals on the rocks and in the water.
The commentary wasn't that good really you had to really listen hard to try make out what was being said.
I didn't realise the extra landing fee would be that much . 4 adults £108 for the trip and extra £42 for landing fee .
Next time I'd choose a trip with no added fee like I saw after.
