History come alive! - One of the best history lessons you will ever have! Kevin brought the era, the people and their way of life alive with his wonderful storytelling. The wall itself is impressive but going with a skilful guide gives it so much more colour and history. If you get the chance go to Vindolanda just up the road, and go with your guide - Kevin again brought all the artefacts to life with context and humour.

Knowledgeable guide - Honestly impressed, our guide was so knowledgeable and gave a very interesting perspective of the history which included both the Roman and the Ancient British Tribes perspective. Highly recommend. I was with a tired 9 and 14 year olds which was just long enough to keep them going , but would love to go back for the full length tour. Def recommend

Tour guide made Roman-rule in Northumberland live again - Books help when it comes to learning about how the Romans, their allies and their slaves, ran such a large part of England so ruthlessly and so well between the time of Julius Caesar’s visits to our little-known island in 55 BC – 54 BC and the departure of the legions to defend a tottering Rome in and around 411 AD. But books and films are no substitute for a well-informed guide who is able to introduce the history-hungry to our country’s most important sites. So, three cheers for Kevin Robson who has an easy but extremely well-informed way of making life in Ancient Roman live again for history-hungry visitors from around the world. Kevin was leader of the tour we joined at Cawfield Quarry at 10 am on June 24. During visits to the Vindolanda archaeological site –probably the best Roman site in the western world - and Housesteads Roman Fort (and then along parts of the 81 miles long wall named after Emperor Hadrian) Kevin answered questions in a way that showed how deeply he has studied his subject, the history of Rome in Northumberland during the reign of Emperor Hadrian (117AD until his death in 138 AD). Kevin runs a Northumberland-based company with his wife, Sara, a company which specialises in guided tours and bushcraft (www.ancientbritai.org). The art of any good teacher – or guide – is to leave students (visitors) with a desire to know more. Kevin is one of the best in the fast-growing Get to Know Roman England “industry.” A day out I will never forget and one we plan to repeat in months ahead. Highly recommended. Trevor R.

Awesome tour!! - We absolutely loved this tour! We learned so much about Hadrian’s Wall as well as the area and history. It was a beautiful walk and the wall and fort were incredible. Kevin was so knowledgeable and answered our many questions! We had to travel in the afternoon, but we wished we booked the longer tour! And very dog friendly!

Educational and fun tour - We thoroughly enjoyed Kevin's guided tour of Hadrian's Wall. Kevin is extremely knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the history of the wall and the area. It was cool to see his traditional clothing, that he made himself! We also got more than just the wall, but walked near it and really got a perspective we wouldn't have if we visited on our own. We highly recommend taking this tour. He also suggested visiting the Vindolanda and the Roman Army museum, both well-worth a visit after you take Kevin's tour.
