A surreal trip !! A must do for everyone !! - This trip was my favourite till date and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to witness the Northern Lights ( And everyone should witness them at-least once in their lifetimes ). Sara was excellent Guide who has more than sufficient knowledge of the lights, lapland and always ensured that everyone was always comfortable and made the trip much more pleasant. We got to witness the Aurora on all 4 nights of our 4 night expedition ( And thanks to Sara have some amazing pictures to share with our friends ) because of Sara’s amazing judgement and proactiveness. Again, if you are considering Lights over Lapland, don’t give it a second thought and if it’s not on your bucket list then do add it!

An unforgettable and magical adventure in Abisko with Lights Over Lapland - My trip to Abisko to see the northern lights was magical thanks to the Lights Over Lapland team. I booked the Anytime Aurora Adventure, which included 4 nights of ultimate aurora photo adventure, one day time activity, accommodation, meals, a warm overall, and camera gear. I also added extra daytime activities, rented boots, and upgraded my camera lens while there. Rachel and Jeanette were exceptional from my first contact, making my preparations smooth with their detailed, patient, and responsive guidance. I knew from the initial email conversations that I was in great hands. As the trip approached, they shared with me a personalized travel itinerary that covered everything: meals, activities, timings, requirements, and a packing list.. As a solo traveler with no experience in -25°C weather, I felt reassured and well-prepared. They were also flexible and understanding of unexpected circumstances and changes in my travel plans. The Ultimate Aurora Photo Adventure was perfect for an amateur photographer. You definitely cannot get enough of watching the lights so the more nights you can book the better. Following Rachel and Jeanette’s advice to book four nights increased my chances of seeing the lights, and I was thrilled to experience them on both my first and last nights. The guides ensured each night was memorable, regardless of the aurora’s appearance. On the first night, Anne warmly welcomed us, helped set up the camera gear, and guided us to a scenic spot with a cozy tipi and fire. Tasting hot lingonberry juice with gingerbread cookies for the first time was a delightful touch and I was happy we got this on other nights as well. She assisted with camera settings and even took a photo of me with the lights. We got 2-3 minutes of intense solar activity and the lights were mindblowing. It still feels like a dream weeks after! I decided on that night that I wanted to upgrade my lens and Anne facilitated this for the next night. Zack and Fabien guided the second and third nights. Though the lights didn’t appear, the experience was still incredible. We went by sleigh and snowmobile to a new location with moonlit snowy landscapes and a starry sky. They prepped the tent and fire at the location and helped us set up our cameras. Zack took the opportunity to explain to us the science behind the northern lights while we sip on hot lingonberry juice and we got to have fun with Fabien experimenting with light painting. I got a perfect final night, as Zack and Gavin expertly found a spot with clear skies despite cloudy forecasts. I highly recommend booking a guided tour to see the lights as it definitely increases the probability of seeing them because they could take you to locations that you wouldn’t think of or be able to access on your own. Their instinct and expertise made all the difference, and the moonlit mountain landscapes added to the magic. The daytime activities were equally enjoyable. The morning hike with Zack was breathtaking with the beautiful white landscapes. He shared very interesting information about the biodiversity around us. We went on the trails that were close to the hotel and got to walk on the frozen lake. He explained to us that we were lucky to see the hoar frost on the trees which turned the place into a winter wonderland. Dog sledding with Abisko.net was very fun. The dogs overflowed with cuteness and energy, and the views we got to see were stunning, with a surprise sighting of moose! The Sami & Reindeer was a great trip outside Abisko. Joey’s humor and interesting facts on Kiruna enriched the journey. Learning about the Sami culture felt essential to understanding the region. Meeting and feeding reindeer made the trip even more memorable and fun. Ice fishing with Paul was a relaxing, interactive finale, and meeting a fellow Lebanese unexpectedly in Abisko added a special touch. Drilling my own hole in the frozen lake was fun, and while we didn’t catch any fish, the stunning sunrise colors over the snow-covered mountains was a highlight. The Abisko Turiststation hotel was cozy and welcoming, with access to a sauna, a charming library, and a relaxing fireplace area. Every meal was delicious and well-balanced, and all the staff were warm and friendly. I’m immensely grateful to everyone mentioned above, as well as the wonderful travelers that I met there, who made this trip unforgettable and brought my northern lights dream to life. I’ll definitely return to Abisko and the Arctic Circle for more adventures!

Northern lights - We had a great night with Joey and Clare on the chase. We went to a few different locations and had a fire with hot drinks. The next day we went on a photography tour with Gavin. Again we had a fire and hot drinks. Both night the weather wasn't great with thick clouds, but both night we got to see the northern lights.

Great tour! - Oliver is super patient, calm and attentive. He helped us with everything we needed - from information about the house’s hot water to photography specific questions! Always in a good mood, he led us through very beautiful trails, setting up the pace and making sure everyone was surviving the cold. Explained how to use the cameras as if I was 5yo - which was exactly like I needed! 5/5 recommend

For your trip of a lifetime book Felix from Lights Over Lapland - We were very fortunate to have our guide Felix Eric for all three nights as we chased the Northern Lights. And on all three nights, Felix delivered 🙌🏻. He connected with us and our three teenage boys so incredibly and he really made sure that we were all Ok and having a great time the whole time we were with him. Felix is knowlegable, caring, fun and kind. We highly recommend Felix and Lights Over Lapland for your trip of a lifetime!

Aurore moment - Great experience with guides Fabian and Felix who taught us a lot about where we were and about Abisko. Very professional, helpful and in a good mood > they kept hoping to see an aurora and bingo. Thanks to them for the time given and for the explanations on the cameras too.

The best way to capture the aurora. - We had an amazing night with Gavin and Felix, our guides. We were given a briefing on the use of the camera and were always on hand to support throughout the tour experience. The aurora forecast wasn't great due to cloud cover but as with any forecast, the situation changed and lady aurora gave us a wonderful display. We would highly recommend this photo tour as the team are friendly, professional and willing do their utmost to ensure you have an amazing experience.

It didn't live up the expectations - The tour was fine but not as they sell it. It was not a small group of 8, we where 15 people. There was not hot drink and snacks all the night but just at the end for 10/15 minutes. We went to a spot right behind the STF touristation hostel, so it was the same as going out of the hostel alone. The guides were nice and they helped us to set the cameras. But if you are in the hostel with a camera, I'll not recomend this activity.

Overpriced and Misleading – Avoid This Tour - I booked the “Ultimate Aurora Photo Adventure” last night, expecting an exciting and well-organized experience. Unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment. The tour description did not make it clear that seeing the actual aurora was extremely unlikely. Despite this, they still took us to a location we could have easily reached on our own with minimal effort. The “adventure” involved a very short walk to the site, where we were handed old, low-quality cameras and tripods to use. It quickly became obvious that the aurora would not appear at all that night, yet we spent four hours (from 8 PM to midnight) standing idle in the freezing cold, doing absolutely nothing. There was no effort to move to another location or improve our chances of seeing the aurora. While the guide was polite and kind, the overall experience felt completely fake. It was a massive waste of time and money, as we achieved nothing. The tour was extremely overpriced for what was offered, and I strongly discourage anyone from booking with this company. I also booked another activity with them, and that one was equally disappointing. Save yourself the frustration and look for alternatives.
