Get ready for a pre-spring adventure in Nicolosi, Sicily, where the thrill of exploring Mount Etna meets the rich flavors of local wines. With varied weather conditions perfect for both indoor and outdoor activities, this weekend promises excitement and discovery.
Embrace the Thrill of Mount Etna
As the sun rises over Nicolosi on February 22nd, the air is crisp and the sky is a canvas of shifting clouds. It’s the perfect day to embark on an adventure that will take you to the heights of excitement and the depths of flavor. Begin your journey with the Etna Wine Tour, where you’ll explore the majestic Mount Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano. This tour kicks off at 8:30 AM, offering a full day of exploration and indulgence.
The trek through the natural paths of Monte Etna is a heart-pounding experience, with the rugged terrain challenging even the most seasoned adventurers. As you ascend, the landscape unfolds in a breathtaking panorama, with ancient craters and lava tube caves adding a touch of mystery to the journey. The highlight of the day is undoubtedly the wine tasting at Enoteca Dell’Etna, where the robust flavors of Sicilian wines are paired with the stunning backdrop of the volcano.
Reviewed on 2024-12-20: Etna tour with colleagues - I took part in an organized tour on top of Etna with a nice group of work colleagues from all over the world. You arrive by bus at 2000 meters to the Sapienza Refuge and then continue either by cable car or with off-road Jeeps, a forced option in this case since the cable car was under maintenance. The tour offered beautiful views also thanks to the perfect clear weather, but objectively the jeep tour is very uncomfortable, much better the cable car if it had been available.
Discover the Wonders of Taormina
On February 23rd, the weather shifts to a clearer morning, setting the stage for another day of exploration. The Etna Half-Day Tour is your ticket to discovering the natural beauty and local flavors of Taormina. Starting at 9:00 AM, this half-day tour is perfect for those who want to experience the thrill of Mount Etna without committing to a full day.
The tour includes a visit to the Grotta dei Tre Livelli, where you’ll don helmets and lamps to explore the fascinating lava cave. The journey continues with a trek through the Parco dell’Etna, where the diverse flora and fauna of the region are on full display. As you make your way through the park, the air is filled with the scent of wild herbs and the sound of birdsong, creating a serene yet exhilarating atmosphere.
Reviewed on 2024-11-17: Amazing!! - Amazing trip! Our tour guide, Angelo, was extremely charismatic, great and knew lots about Mount Etna and was very friendly. We visited a cave, the lower mountain peaks and were taken to a honey farm in a nearby town for tasting.
