- Laguna Charco Verde - The Charco Verde natural reserve is a protected area situated between Ometepe’s two volcanoes, at the island’s lower part. This area includes a lagoon, forest, and beach.
The lagoon, known as Laguna Verde (Green Lagoon), is separated from the lake by a narrow land strip. It serves as a sanctuary for numerous bird species.
Charco Verde’s beach is among the finest on Ometepe. The serene and somewhat secluded beach, Bancon, is ideal for swimming and relaxation. A hike through the forest leads to this beach and back to the reserve’s entrance, taking about an hour if the beach is not visited. During the hike, nature can be enjoyed, and the mainland is visible on the horizon from this side of the island.
- El Ojo de Agua - Envision a place where relaxation under the tropical forest’s shade and bathing in volcanic water while sipping coconut water is possible. This incredible place, known as Ojo de Agua, is located in Ometepe, within the Santo Domingo community, in the Altagracia municipality.
The water in this natural pool, called Ojo de Agua, originates directly from the Concepción Volcano. Being volcanic water, it is rich in potassium, magnesium, calcium, sulfur, and sodium. These chemical elements have properties that help reduce fever, muscle pain, stress, and some allergies, and some claim they even aid in rejuvenation!
- Playa Mangos kayaks & restaurant - Embark on a peaceful journey to Playa Mango, a hidden treasure on the stunning Ometepe Island. Situated along the island’s serene western shore, Playa Mango offers a perfect mix of natural beauty, relaxation, and genuine Nicaraguan culture.
