Known for its iconic rock formations such as the “Lion”, the “Fairy Caves”, the “Royal Court”, and the “Buddha”, Phong Nha Cave is the inspiration behind the name of the entire system and park. The cave extends to a length of 7729 m and consists of 14 grottos. An underground river flows through the cave for an impressive length of 13,969 m. Although scientists have explored 44.5 km of grottos within, only 1500 m is accessible to tourists.
Paradise cave
Thiên Đường or “Paradise” Cave is a recent discovery in the region. Prior to the astonishing discovery of the Sơn Đoòng cave, it was hailed as the largest and lengthiest cave in Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng. With an impressive length of 31.4 km, Thiên Đường cave surpasses the length of Phong Nha cave, which was previously considered the longest in the national park. The cave’s height can reach up to 100 m with a width of 150 m, making its limestone formation even more remarkable than that of Phong Nha Cave.
