We just saw the Amy Sherald exhibit! - We just saw the Amy Sherald exhibit and were blow away. What an absolutely fantastic array of her portraits. The display was perfect and we really enjoyed the accompanying film. After viewing this exhibit, we also saw: "untitled" (America)". We loved that one too.

Don’t miss this museum in New York City. - I wasn’t sure what to expect but I always wanted to visit it when in NYC. It did not disappoint; it’s a great museum. The works by Sherald were unexpectedly moving and amazing.

Not Just Art - Fun, user-friendly, and walking distance from Greenwich Village, the HiLine and Chelsea Market. Pricey EXCEPT for the very popular free Friday nights...when you will need to queue an hour but hey free is good. Allow two hours. Start at the top floor and work your way down the outside staircases and platforms. Mind-blowing views of the Hudson River, Statue of Liberty and some of the most exceptional architecture in NY. Make time to enjoy the 8th fl terrace cafe if weather permits, prices are reasonable(for NY) and a purchase is optional. Peek around the corners on each floor. A treat at every turn. Easy access by mass transit, see the website. ADA. Gift shop. Cafe on top floor and pricey restaurant on ground floor, many reasonable dining options nearby. Kid friendly.

Smaller collection with outstanding views - Beautiful building with nicely laid out galleries. It was pouring rain when we were there so they closed all the terraces, but easy to see they have beautiful views in all directions. Much smaller collection than Moma or Met, but same price of admission...though I'm sure they have many fewer visitors so understandable to charge more relative to what you're getting. And neither Met nor Moma have such outstanding views. I'm not a modern art aficionado, but did enjoy many of the pieces and appreciate the effort that has gone into curating an American collection. Had a good pastry at the café up top. Not busy on a rainy Wednesday in August.

A beautiful museum with different exhibitions - The discovery of an American artist, Amy Sherald who makes the painting close to the photo. Realism blew me away. You feel like you see the souls of the characters. Christine Sun Kim’s exhibition provides an interesting concept but the works are disappointing to see, as are some of the other modern works presented that come closer to mere waste or too abstract concepts without seeing the work done. The whole is visited in a beautiful, clean building where one alternates between the inside and the outside. A beautiful museum, then.
