Visit definitely not to be missed!!! - The construction of this dizzying skyscraper, 540 meters high, represented the rebirth of the area following the September 11, 2001 attack. In just 47 seconds, a lightning-fast elevator takes you to the 102nd floor of One World Observatory, where you start your tour of the rooftop terrace for a breathtaking 360-degree view of NYC. You can easily identify the main sites that made the metropolis famous in the world, from the Statue of Liberty to the Empire State Building, as well as some historic buildings of early New York, which look very small in comparison!.

Fantastic views (and not so scary for someone who doesn't like heights!!) - There are a number of options when wanting to view the NY skyline. I went to one of the twin towers observatory deck about 30 years ago and so it felt fitting to go to the One World Observatory having returned to New York after all these years. It was poignant to reflect on what has happened since my first visit. We arrived for the 9am booking (the earliest option) which meant there were no crowds and so we pretty much shared the space with about 40 other people. I can see the fuss about going at dusk but the sky was blue and the peace trumped the evening lights for us (if you get the subway at night from Brooklyn that passed over a bridge, the views of the city in the dark are incredible so that ticked that box for us). The trip in the lift was a worry for me as I don't like heights or confined spaces but the video show was brilliant to distract you. One tip would be to record the presentation as you get out of the lift and before you step into the observatory. We didn't and I wish we had! I guess the disadvantage of this observatory over the more mid town ones is that you can't see uptown (e.g. Central Park and beyond). There is a cafe which is reasonably priced - and a restaurant which I suspect gets booked up well in advance. We then followed the visit with a sombre reflection at Ground Zero.

viator is the only company i'll use for nyc experiences - I had an unfortunate incident that resulted in us not being able to go to our event. Viator was great about it! There are many companies in NYC that rip customers off and have no customer service. But Viator is not one of them. They are great! And I will always use them before others.

Not value for money - Underwhelming and not good value for money. The 360º view of the city was good, we had a cloudless day and could see for miles. My main issue is the price and what we got for it. Tickets can go upto aroud $50 each, but very little information abkutnwhat you can see is available. Other observation types of attraction across the world provide signs showing what you are looking at and information about it. If you want this you have to pay $15 to hire an iPad, good technology (point in the direction and it will provide information) but expensive if you have a family on top of the entry fee. I suggest reduce the admission, or include the iPad in the cost. It's not as if you are going to struggle to survive.
