Childish Virtual Scavenger Hunt & Poor Customer Service - I don't believe in writing negative reviews, but this really annoyed me, and I want to let others know what to expect. Unfortunately, when I purchased this virtual scavenger hunt through Viator, there were no reviews, it did not list "Alley Kat Adventures" as the operator, and only a brief description was available. Had I known what their version of a scavenger hunt entailed, I would not have bought it. First, requiring two purchases for a hunt that two people can complete with one phone feels like you're being overcharged. If the business wants to charge more for groups, they should do so upfront instead of misleading customers into thinking each person needs to pay individually when only one phone is needed to complete tasks. When my friend and I received the slides in Canva and read through them, we immediately found the activities childish and didn't want to participate. We expected an experience of finding things around town. Instead, we were told to complete "tasks" like interview a stranger, act out a tourism commercial for the town, or pretend to own a boat. Making fools of ourselves in public in a very busy vacation town was neither fun nor amusing. I requested a refund on the WhatsApp platform where we were receiving tasks within five minutes of starting the hunt, but was only offered credit from Alley Kat Adventures for my "unusual negative experience." Why would I want to try it again if I think the entire concept is ridiculous? Refunding the $40 would have been easy, cost the business nothing, and I probably would have forgotten about it by Monday. Shame on Alley Kat Adventures for poor customer service and not responding to my refund inquiry through their website form.
