A Historic Treasure in a Bus Tour - It was an experience of a lifetime. Thanks to our tour guide, Dennis, who gave us the historical tea! So many sites; the St. Louis Hotel, where slave trades were conducted, the 9th Ward, stories of Hurricane Katrina, the home of Fats Domino, to name a few sites. We visited an art studio called Studio Be, which is ran by local artists, which had some of the most beautiful art displaying social justice! I recommend it! The art and the meanings behind them, are profound. Finally, our visit to the Leona Tate Foundation for Change, is something I’ll never forget! It is housed in the old McDonough 19 Elementary School. We were honored to meet Leona Tate who just happened to be there. She, like Ruby Bridges, was sent to a segregated school. Hearing her speak…mesmerizing! She, along with Tessie Prevost and Gail Etienne, both deceased, are infamously called “The McDonough Three”. This bus tour offered more than I could have imagined.

Outstanding Tour A must!! - This tour and operator was outstanding. He was very personable and had a lot of knowledge of the area. It was really nice that there were a few stops where we could go to the restroom. Truly enjoyed the tour and the Bmike and the school. Interesting to see the levees and hear that history.

An Amazing Learning Experience - From the moment the tour began, it was evident that this would not be a typical city excursion. Our guide, whose passion and knowledge were matched only by his warmth, transported us through years of New Orleans’ history. The narrative began with the city’s earliest days when the harsh realities of enslavement shaped its streets and society. Our tour guide did not shy away from the city’s difficult past; instead, he wove it into the fabric of New Orleans’ present. The focus of the tour shifted from hardship to hope. We experienced firsthand the ways in which music, food, and art have been used as tools of resistance and healing throughout New Orleans history. I cannot recommend the Soul of New Orleans City Tour highly enough. Ya’ Heard Me (smile). The Soul of New Orleans City Tour: Enslavement to Modern Day Culture is nothing less than amazing. It is an essential experience for anyone who seeks to understand the city’s past, embrace its present, and dream of its future. Prepare to be enlightened, inspired, and forever changed by the journey. On my next trip back, I would do this your again. My family and I had an amazing time! Thank you, Wendy!

Don’t Miss It! - I would have no hesitation in recommending this tour. Denis, our tour guide and driver had a real passion for his city. He provided an excellent history as well as great tips for visitors to NOLA. There were around 8 people on our tour and Denis answered everyone’s questions throughout. The trip was enhanced by some pictures and video clips which were shown on a screen as we drove to illustrate the points he was making. On our particular trip we even met one of the most important figures in the civil rights movement. A real highlight and a very humbling experience!

Tour includes Hurricane Katrina aftermath. - The tour was very informative. The tour guide Jay, was very knowledgeable. He gave us information we had not received from other tours. The tour covered the damage Hurricane Katrina did to the lower ninth ward. He showed us where the levy broke, the areas that flooded, stories of some of the families that suffered great loss and even showed markings of the heights of the water levels. If you are interested in that part of the history of New Orleans, you must take this tour.
