Do the New Orleans Garden District Tour - This walking tour of the New Orleans Garden District is perfect for those who appreciate beautiful neighborhoods, classic architecture and learning about historic landmarks. Many sites on the tour come with interesting backstories. My tour guide Wesley was friendly and knowledgeable, making the tour even more fun. It’s perfect for small groups or solo travelers. Surprisingly my booking was honored despite being the only one scheduled for the tour. Most tours will cancel if they don’t book a minimum number of guests. Be prepared to sweat if you take the tour during the Summer but you’ll find some relief as most of the tour takes you along beautiful tree lined streets with lots of shade. Also, I’d recommend wearing comfortable shoes. You’ll have to watch where you step in certain areas because many of the cobblestone sidewalks are very loose and uneven from the root systems of large trees. Overall this was a great tour and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a fun yet quiet tourist activity to do.

Fantastic - Scott was a fantastic guide. He asked us what our specific interests were and tailored the tour accordingly. His range and depth of knowledge was impressive and he described the area- its history and its architecture- with intelligence humour. Thank you for the tip re: the marble room!

Take this tour with Orion Couling - We accidentally walked the New Orleans Garden District with an exceptionally knowledgeable and entertaining guide, Orion Couling. He clearly has a passion for the architecture of this area, and a passion for communicating about it. He was also a terrific, professional guide, taking care that everyone was able to particpate.

Fun with the dead - Todd is very knowledgeable and respectful of the historical site but also fun and truly interested in sharing his thoughts and experiences. Definitely get water going in and out because there is no shade and it’s cooking in there. Don’t lean on crypts and be respectful.

Make sure to taking your walking shoes - We now realize historic cities and surrounding historic areas are not wheelchair friendly. We were not able to board a bus tour to see the Garden District. Even though we checked ahead that the tour handles wheelchairs that fold up. The tour bus expected the person in the wheelchair to b able to use the steps of the tour bus to get on and off. This was not an option for us. We confirmed we would be refunded for the tour and decided to drive to the Garden District and try a walking self tour. There was no way the streets and walkway in the Garden District would accommodate a wheelchair. We drove up and down several streets viewing the homes, looped around the above ground cemetery that was not wheelchair accessible from what we saw, and drove back to our home base..
