More than a paddle boat ride - Narration was great and easy to hear. Nice to break up the boat ride with the battlefield experience. Food was buffet style. Second helpings welcome.

Great tour! - The guides were fantastic storytellers. On the boat you'll learn about the history of New Orleans from the beginning all the way through Hurricane Katrina. The way he told the story of what went wrong with Katrina was fascinating and profoundly moving. At the battlefield, you'll hear the story of the Battle of New Orleans. You only have an hour, so you can't see everything. The NPS ranger gives the history of the battle (she was also great) and you'll have time to walk around after. Highly recommend!

Charles Chestnut is worth 3 times the price of this tour - It’s fantastic…if you take the time to listen to the on board historian Charles Chestnut. He makes this tour. Without him it’s a slow, barely scenic sleepy boat ride. With him the tour, the history of New Orleans and much, much more come to life in an accurate, revealing and very entertaining way. BRAVO Charles!

Family Trip - We stayed an extra day in NO and the cruise was the perfect amount of time to fill our afternoon. The narrator was great and gave a lot of information on the ride. The park ranger at the Battle of New Orleans was also phenomenal!

missed the boat - We are assuming it was 5 star! We travelled to New Orleans for New Year's, and had reservations for New Year's Eve. Got a call, boat needed maintenance, wanna go tomorrow? Sure! Then Bourbon Street happened. We stayed in the hotel room morose, and decided to avoid all. We will be back, and we will ride with y'all!

Great Narrator - I think his blanket was Charlie, and he was great. At the battlefield, he really made it come to life and kept us anticipating and entertained. We purchased with a buffet meal and feel like we got our money’s worth.

It's the Narrator - We took the Historical River Cruise. Unless you have a particular interest in the Mississippi, the trip itself is not really worth the fare. We steamed downriver for about an hour, spent another hour at the Chalmette battlefield, and then steamed back. That was it. The shoreline of the river that the tour passes is not very interesting: mostly a collection of shipping wharves, dilapidated factories, abandoned piers, pushboat barges, a couple of Navy ships, and a huge sugar refinery, most of which are obscured by the levies anyway. We passed the French Quarter, but it was so far away that St. Louis Cathedral was little more than a silhouette. The battlefield was interesting, but we had only an hour there, and a fair amount of that time was spent getting on and off the boat. So why the 4 rating? The narrator, Charles. His presentation on the way to the battlefield was an excellent capsule history of New Orleans and the lower Mississippi, and on the way back he offered an optional but moving account of the events surrounding Hurricane Katrina. He made the trip worth the money.

informative - Ride on the Mighty Mississippi was great. The highlight was learning of the battle of New Orleans. Fascinating battle that I knew little about previously. Tour guide was knowledgeable and provided great facts on New Orleans history

good tour overall but... - Very good tour overall but more time needed at Chalumet Battlefield. Taking into account the time needed to embark/disembark the large number of people from the steamboat, walk to/from the site, and hear the guide's presentation, there is little time left (15 minutes or less) to see the battlefield before one has to get back to the boat.

Very disappointed is not worth 94 dollars - A cruise on the Mississippi is a dream. It stops there in fact the cruise doesn't last 2 hours as you might imagine. There is only one hour of navigation since we dock further on the bank and to visit the memorial of the cart plantation battlefield it is the most interesting of the cruise. We meet n huge cargo ships otherwise it is ugly and only the views of the city and the bridge are nice. The boat itself is comfortable but I advise against lunch that we did not have and thankfully composed of rice pasta and meat in warmed sauce on each trip. Besides, considering what was left on the plates, it must not be very good. Not Nola's best memory.
