Must Do - Wonderful experience! The guide was very proactive and shared the history of the plantation. She showed us pictures of ghosts of the plantation that other people took with their phones. If you're a "sensitive" like me, you may have a reaction. I felt like I was rocking on a boat when I was hearing about the slaves. I also felt nauseous and dizzy. Regardless, everyone should have this experience and give honor to the slaves--make their lives matter.

Beautiful Home and Some Haunted History! - We did this tour last week. I was at a conference so I didn't have the opportunity to do the day tour. However, when I saw there was a night tour I thought it would give us an opportunity to see the house & hear the history plus do a little ghostly fun. We arrived early so we walked around the gift shop. The guy working was super friendly and answered all our questions. Our tour guide was also early and he even took us in the gates for some pictures before dark and our tour. The tour itself was great! It wasn't hokey but filled with history. We've been to many plantation homes throughout the south but this one truly has a unique history. He showed us pictures and he also let people take pictures to see if they could get 'ghosts.' When we finished the house tour, we went outside to explore the grounds. We were giving dowsing rods to 'communicate' with the deceased. Not sure I believe in this but we still had a ball and it was cool to see the outside of the home and the grounds at night. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and will do it again next time we are in the Nola area. Skip the ghost tours downtown and do this one!

I had an incredible time... - I had an incredible time on the haunted tour of Destrehan Plantation. The atmosphere alone is enough to give you chills — towering oaks, candlelit paths, and centuries of history lingering in the air. Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and knew how to balance eerie storytelling with real historical facts. The paranormal tales were spine-tingling, especially when we visited the old slave quarters and family crypts. Whether you’re a history buff, a ghost enthusiast, or just looking for something unforgettable to do near New Orleans, this tour is absolutely worth it. It’s the perfect blend of Southern charm and supernatural mystery.

Awesome night experience - The plantation was awesome to visit at night. I did two plantation tours during my visit and this one being at night was much better. I highly recommend doing this tour.

Fun, spooky tour! - Fun plantation tour. Our tour guide at the plantation was knowledgeable and intriguing. The total tour lasted about 3 hours: 30 minute drive to the plantation (each way) and roughly 2 hour tour time. Majority of the tour was guided and there was some time at the end to explore the grounds. Would definitely recommend if you enjoy history with a little spookiness! Only reason this tour was not rated 5/5 was because of the tour bus driver. As soon as we got onto the bus the driver stated that he “was not a tour guide, he’s a bus driver.” So we did not learn any fun facts while on the bus. Quite bummed since normally the bus drivers are highly knowledgeable and enjoy sharing information. Other than that, the experience was great!
