A strong but great experience to live - I recently had the opportunity to take part in a slum tour guided by Vijay, and it was one of the most eye-opening experiences of my travels. From the very first moment, I was struck by the powerful contrasts that define daily life here: the narrow alleys filled with children’s laughter, the strong scent of spices and street food mingling with less pleasant odors, and the sight of vibrant colors painted against the backdrop of extreme poverty. Walking through the community, I was overwhelmed by images that will stay with me forever: families living in tiny, improvised homes, but also people working with extraordinary skill and determination, turning limited resources into something meaningful. The resilience and dignity of the residents left a deep impression on me. What made this experience truly special was our guide, Vijay. His knowledge, sensitivity, and respect for the people we met helped us understand the slum beyond stereotypes. He explained the economic challenges, the social fabric, and above all, the human strength behind every story. He was not only informative but also deeply empathetic, which made the tour feel authentic rather than voyeuristic.
