- Pigeon Valley - Pigeon Valley stretches from Uçhisar to Göreme, covering an area of 4 kilometers. It is named after the pigeon nests carved into the rocks. Until the 9th century, locals fed these pigeons, using their manure in vineyards and their eggs in fresco plasters. Be sure to visit this valley to witness both the pigeon nests and the unique natural flora.
- Uchisar Castle - Since the Roman era, this castle has been carved into numerous rooms, houses, shelters, depots, cisterns, tombs, and cellars, serving as a key defense point against Arab raids. It features large stone cannonballs for defense. Uçhisar Castle, used as both a watchtower and a defense castle, retained its significance during the Seljuk and Principality periods (12-14th centuries). It was named “Uçhisar” due to its position as the eastern border of the Seljuks, the western border of the Kadı Burhanettin Principality, and the eastern border of the Karamanoğulları.
- Fairy Chimneys - Paşabağı Valley is renowned for its unique fairy chimney formations in Cappadocia. These chimneys are formed by wind and water erosion of soft volcanic rocks known as tuff. The fairy chimneys in Paşabağı are notable for their wide “mushroom-shaped” tops, which captivate visitors.
- Zelve Open Air Museum - Zelve Valley serves as an open-air museum, featuring numerous churches, monasteries, living spaces, and chapels carved into the rocks. One of Zelve’s most fascinating aspects is how its ancient inhabitants survived in these rock structures. The Zelve Open Air Museum offers visitors a profound understanding of life in these rock houses in ancient times.
- Devrent Valley - Unlike other Cappadocia valleys, Devrent Valley lacks fairy chimneys. Instead, its rock formations naturally resemble various animal figures, human faces, or other recognizable shapes. Visitors can spot silhouettes of camels, dinosaurs, sailing ships, skulls, and other animals in these formations, making it a popular destination for photographers and those eager to spark their imagination.
- Avanos Carsi Seramik - Avanos Pottery Culture is a significant traditional craft associated with the Avanos district in Turkey’s Cappadocia region. Avanos has historically been renowned for ceramics and pottery. The pottery from this district is both a cultural emblem and a traditional art form recognized worldwide. Pottery in Avanos boasts a history spanning thousands of years, holding great historical and cultural significance.
