- Gokyo Lakes - Trekking through the Gokyo valley offers a journey through Sherpa villages with panoramic views, including the stunning Gokyo Lakes and breathtaking mountain vistas. Our goal is to reach the high elevation of the fifth Gokyo lake (4990m). Gokyo is a hidden valley with beautiful blue lakes nestled in the Himalayas. The area is blessed with the natural beauty of the sparkling Gokyo lakes. The Gokyo valley trek rewards you with exceptional views of Everest (8848m), Makalu, Cho Oyo (8153m), and Lhotse (8511m) from Gokyo Ri. This magnificent trek is also known as the Gokyo Lake trek or the Valley of Lakes. The Gokyo lake trek in Nepal is considered one of the top five wonders in National Geographic in Asia. For those seeking a luxurious Everest trek, you can hike up to Ama Dablam Base Camp.
Gokyo valley trekking is a challenging trek suitable only for physically fit and experienced hikers who love adventure. If you are experienced in high-altitude mountain climbing and seeking an adventurous trek, this is perfect for you. We can trek up to the fifth lakes, which is also a breathtaking day experience in the Nepal Himalayas. The Gokyo lakes feed into the Dudh Koshi river.
The trek starts with a flight to Lukla (2,805m) from Kathmandu, then we trek up to the Gokyo Ri viewpoint (5360m). Reaching the top of Gokyo Ri is like reaching heaven on earth, no need to wait for the next life for Nirvana. The Ngozumba glacier, beside the Gokyo valley trails, lies under the astounding icefall from the world’s sixth-highest mountain, Cho Oyu. Ngozumpa glacier is the longest (36 kilometers) glacier in the Nepal Himalayas. The trek passes through landmarks of the Everest area, including towering mountains, friendly Sherpas, vibrant monasteries and prayer flags, Namche Bazaar, Sagarmatha National Park, and more. If you have an additional three days, you can cross the Cho La pass (5,422m) into the Everest Base Camp Valley. To top off this unique trek, we climb Kalapathar (5,545m) for a stunning view of the world’s highest mountain panorama.
