Hassle-free and convenient - We did the tour to the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral with private transport. Our driver, Nestor, was wonderful. He spoke English well enough to give us historical tidbits during the drive to and from and was very accommodating. The tour in the cathedral is done using a recorded audio guide at your own pace, and so Nestor didn’t go in, but he made sure to set us up and met us outside when we were done. For a first time visitor to Colombia, it was a hassle-free way to visit this site.

Amazing experience with great driver/guide - Beautiful display at Nemcon salt mine that is a must visit if you visit Bogota. We were very lucky to visit on weekday so my family was the only group inside the mine at the time we visited. Our driver , Alex is a friendly, punctual and very informative guide that helped us to learn almost every aspect of life in Colombia. From the time I inquired about the tour to few weeks after I booked, the Bogota pass staff was very patient and accommodating to our needs, I would highly recommended this company to anyone.

Great tour, very enjoyable day. - I really enjoyed this tour, and the mine was AMAZING! I wasn't really sure what to expect, but the mine was really neat. The guide picked me up at the hotel, and off we went. His English was limited, and my Spanish is limited, so it made for a quiet ride. I would think of it more as a driver than a guide. But no bother. He was still friendly and drove safely. The drive out to the mine was nice, getting to see some of the countryside. The town the mine is located in is tiny and cute. The mine tour is led by the mine company, so my driver and I settled on a spot I could find him after the tour was over. Into the mine we went, after putting on the appropriate safety gear. It ended up being just me and my guide, so a nice private tour. No one else inside the mine either. The inside of the mine was just neat. She showed me the different areas of it, explained some of it's history (in amazing English) and stopped to let me take lots of photos. It is well lit and very spacious - no claustrophobia issues. The optical illusions were so awesome! There was even a spot where I could dip my hands in to the salt water. The guide was right - my hands were super soft after. After the tour the guide showed me a small hill I could climb (right on the mine land) which offered a nice view of the town. After the mine tour we drove to another town and had a very enjoyable lunch. All in all, it was a very nice day. If ever back in the area I would happily to another tour.

We were picked up punctually at the... -
We were picked up punctually at the hotel by our driver, Alex. He was very friendly, spoke English, and answered our questions regarding the health care system and educational system in Colombia while we drove to the salt mine. He was also a good driver. We were taken on the tour of the mine with one other couple from the USA, so it was almost a private tour. The guide gave a good explanation in English of the mine and of the geology of the area but she struggled with the language a bit when trying to answer questions. The mine is beautifully lit and fairly interesting but the road into Nemocon is in bad shape.

The Nemocon Salt Mine tour is the... -
The Nemocon Salt Mine tour is the other Salt Mine, we had a good experience. Our tour guide was fluent in English and explained everything to us perfectly. This mine is much smaller and not as commercial as the other with the Cathedral. This tour will take about an hour to go thru it. It is about half the size of the other salt Mine. Remember that there is a lot of walking and ducking when go on the tour down the Salt Mines, so the bigger one is not for an older person that is not in good shape. I would say that it is worthwhile to go. The best part of the whole tour was the salt rivers that reflect the ceiling and give the illusion of looking down a cliff, when you are only looking down at maybe 2 or 3 feet, it was really amazing.
