Worthwhile Adult Party Cruise from Margartaville - We’ve been on numerous catamaran tours like this before and this one is enjoyable/worth the money but important to have proper expectations.
- if you arrive and there’s a line to check in, and there’s time before boarding, no need to stand there and wait. Have a seat and wait till the line dissipates. (Note - there’s a 10% discount for Margartaville orders if on the cruise, so make sure you get that if getting food / drinks)
- If you have a strong preference for where you sit on the boat, be ready to line up before boarding (about 10 min before boarding time, pretty much our whole boat was lined up )
- snorkeling is a spot with other boats. No coral. A few fish. We didn’t go in because it wasn’t sunny. Relaxing time. Bar was open, no music.
- Rick’s Cafe is fun. Cliff jumping (jumping and watching others) and the views are the big thing to do.
- Boat ride is party vibe. Mostly hip-hop / dance music. Yes, played loudly. Chocolate Thunder was high energy and a great hype man. He called people up (eg people celebrating their birthday) to dance / twerk. If this will annoy you, this isn’t your cruise (may want to choose the family cruise). At one point he came around with a bottle pouring shots for everyone but a simple no thanks and he moved on to the next person.
- Rum punch was good. They had liquor bottles out if you wanted to add a floater. Short lines. Other basic drink options too.
- Snacks were bags of chips of various types.
- Saw dolphins on ride back
- Yes, cruise did not stay out to watch the sunset. It was going down while on the boat but we watched it on the beach walking back.
We did the adult tour out of Margaritaville. Walked there from our hotel so cannot comment on the bus experience except to note they even though our hotel wasn’t on the list, they said they would pick us up there if we had taken the Jamfest based cruise.

Vacation - Entertaining, clean, busy place to visit. Had plenty of workers.
But too many excursions coming and going at the same time. Stairs down to hoats were very crowded.

Catamaran sunset tour to Rick's Cafe - We enjoyed the catamaran & snorkeling cruise to Rick's Cafe! This was our first time in Jamaica and first time doing this type of tour. Be prepared to wade through the water up to your waist (maybe higher) to get onto the boat. The crew is wonderful with helping everyone get onboard safely. There are two bathrooms on board as well which is very convenient. We chose to stay on the boat while others snorkeled (gear provided) since it was a little rough but the crew members guide you along the reef. When we got to Rick's Cafe a small shuttle boat picked everyone up and again, the crew was amazing with helping everyone transfer to the shuttle boat safely. The sunset part of the cruise was nice and the captain made sure to turn the boat so everyone could get a good view of the sunset. The DJ kept the energy up with fun music the entire time. However, if you sit under the canopy be prepared to not be able to hear anyone talk to you the entire time unless you are right in their ear. The music is very loud. Overall, we enjoyed the excursion and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for something fun to do!

Crew was amazing and fun.... - Crew was amazing and fun. Boat was beautiful as well. High winds, big waves made snorkeling a bit difficult. Wished we were given fins also. Did manage to see some fish. Lots of other boats in the same area. Cruise down to Rick's was fun with music and rum punch. Not able to get off at Rick's due to the waves, but they did bus us all back up for an hour. Boyfriend did the cliff dive from 30' so it was worth it to go!!
Only negative was the drunk man who was already totally drunk before we even left! Had to start a fight on the boat and his wife had to cause issues again before we got off. Shame people have to be like that.

Okay - Overall this excursion was okay. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad. I would say, give it a shot and rate it from your own perspective.

Uncomfortable Experience! - As there was no option to respond to the company’s reply, I deleted my prior review to clarify some information.
I have attached screenshots of my prior review and the response from the company.
We booked this Adult’s only Sunset Catamaran Excursion on Valentine's Day, 2025, as a group of 8. As you can see in the photos of my initial review, the excursion started with some confusion as we were picked up by the wrong bus/company at our resort. Although the company gathered the misconception that my poor review derived from this situation, that was not the case. We understood this mistake was outside of their actions and that they worked diligently to get us back to the right situation.
However, it was the events that followed AFTER we arrived at the Jamwest Beach that has resulted in our poor review. Upon our arrival at Jamwest Beach we entered a bar/restaurant type of establishment and were seated at a table. While sitting down we noticed another couple nearby where it was evident an adult male was intoxicated. He required assistance from his girlfriend to walk to the beach where the staff were dividing people into different lines for the awaiting catamarans. While the staff was grouping people into 2 lines, the couple were on the sand, in between the lines, with the male unable to hold himself upright.
We each proceeded to the ship by wading through water and took a seat under the canopy near the initial entry. We were all rather shocked when the couple entered the boat. It was evident the staff were aware that the man was intoxicated. The man was having trouble keeping himself up and the staff motioned for him to sit down immediately beside us. Concerned that he was too intoxicated to be on the ship and also that he may be sick on one of us, we declined their suggestion. This angered him and he came over to one of the women in our group, mouthing off and putting his hand up as if he was going to hit her.
His friends were able to successfully relocate him to another area and he again was allowed to remain on the ship. The guy had a hard time letting it go and threw nasty glances in our direction, while his girlfriend sat on his lap encouraging him to forget about it. Again, he was allowed to remain, following which we were transported to the snorkel site. The man did not go in the water and shortly after snorkeling he passed out, draped over his girlfriend’s lap. She shifted him to lay over the bench, where he spent a long while out like a light.
Due to the weather, we were unable to enter Rick’s Cafe from the ship and the decision was made we would return to the beach and exit the boat to be bussed to Rick’s Cafe. During our trip back to the beach, the girlfriend of the intoxicated man was allowed to take over the mic. She used the mic to encourage everyone to give the staff tips. Unfortunately, she went from suggesting everyone tip at least $5.00 to individually addressing people over the mic insisting they tip $5.00 at least. After continued insistence the person she was pressuring replied with something to the effect of leave the subject alone. I’m not completely clear on how things progressed from there, but the result was a verbal argument between the other person and, the now awake, intoxicated man from earlier. He appeared to be approaching the other person in an effort to have a physical fight, but the staff stepped in to prevent this. Voices were raised in the verbal altercation; we quickly departed the boat. Once we were back on the beach, we all decided we would return to the resort and forgo the trip to Rick’s Cafe. This decision was made partially because we were not confident the staff would prevent the man from continuing onto the next venue.
We asked the staff located at the exit of the gift shop if they could make arrangements to return us to the resort rather than join everyone on the trip to Rick’s cafe. They figured it out and had us loaded into a different bus and we were transported back to the resort. Although we appreciated their efforts, the decision to allow an overly intoxicated person on the ship ruined the day.
As far as the catarman, the boat was nice and had several bathrooms. It was not overly crowded with lots of room to move. Snorkeling was decent. The snacks consisted of bags of cheezies, fried plantains and banana chips. They played an arrangement of music.
We were disappointed that we didn’t have the opportunity to watch the sunset from the boat, but their intention was to watch the sunset from Rick’s Cafe.
I feel individuals showing obvious signs of extreme intoxication should not be permitted to enter the ship. Not only is it uncomfortable for the other customers but it poses a huge liability threat to the company.

Would not recommend - Save your money. Drinks horribly expensive. Don’t leave any of your personal belongings out of site for a minute or they will disappear.

Please! Provide transparency and a itinerary before booking - The times displayed on the booking isn’t the actual time of the excursion/pick up. They tell you the meet up time way too late so if you have something planned you won’t make the excursion nor will you get you money back.
