A memorable first day in Colombo. - The great introduction to Colombo, Sri Lanka. My thanks to Raju and Mihndu for a memorable start to my holiday. Highlights of thid trip for me was the canals, the mangroves, the many birds, having fruit and fresh coconut served while sitting in the water and of course my favourite feeding the monkeys. Thank you Raju for my first Tuk Tuk ride on Sri Lanka and Mihndu thank you for sharing your knowledge and company on this trip.

It’s a perfect short trip - The entire organization was perfect, from the pick-up to the departure. A pleasant cruise around the lagoon, time for swimming, and a fruit picnic. The staff explains everything you want to know about the Dutch Canal and the lagoon. Highly recommended.

An unexpected treasure - We went out for the morning with Leonard our guide. The boat trip took us through the canals and out to the lagoon. There we had a picnic of some delicious fruit prepared by Leonard on a table on a sandbar. It was so interesting especially seeing all the shipwrecked boats still lying there in the water after the tsunami. We stopped off after the picnic to see the monkeys. Don’t worry, if like me, you’re not a fan of monkeys. These were very polite and knew only to eat the fruit we had for them. They also had a wee drink of coconut water. Very cute. We saw a huge water monitor on the way back. Leonard, our guide was very friendly and helpful. It’s a different type of tour but really good.

A good adventure - Wondering what we got ourselves into turned out to be good relaxing boat ride with interesting scenery. Leonard (Mr everything) was very polite and eager. Leonard gave us a true cultural experience into the workings of the local people and the lagoon. The surprising stop on a sandbank, with Leonard then, setting up a table and chairs was the highlight. Plentiful fruits and King Coconut juice were offered. Any leftovers was the next surprise. We stopped at another mangrove and fed the monkeys. Overall a good morning adventure.

Despite initial impressions of a polluted canal we thoroughly enjoyed this excursion - Dixon was an excellent guide and ensured we saw lots of wildlife. Water monitors, monkeys, birds. Fabulous fruit feast on a sandbar.
