Highly recommended - We had a very lovely time here from start to finish
The hosts hospitality was perfect from beginning to end
Starting with a cup of tea and snacks then a walk around the small kitchen garden before entering the kitchen and being introduced to a wide selection of vegetables. We selected 5 of our choice
Then we were introduced to the spices
Our host and her charming mum were very kind and we loved cooking with the clay pots and coconut spoons
We concocted a delightful feast that is up there with some of the best curries I’ve ever eaten
The kitchen and process was very hygienic and all in all this was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I’d recommend this activity to anyone wanting to add to their culinary skills
Thankyou for a very enjoyable time and for teaching us some of your amazing cooking skills

Must do experience while in Sri Lanka - This experience was an absolute winner. We planned to do this before taking our night flight back to the UK, and it worked so well. Nuwan picked us up absolutely bang on time, after great communication beforehand, from our hotel in Negombo and took us to their family home only a few miles from the airport. Erangi welcomed us into their home and served tea and delicious Sri Lankan bakes. We then were taken into Erangi's kitchen, where she showed us a bowl with more Sri Lankan fresh vegetables than you can imagine. We chose 5 vegetables, and along with chicken and fish, we made the most delicious, flavoursome, special currys. All served with rice and poppadoms. Erangi is just a delight and has the kindest way of helping you make your own fabulous dishes. All the while, her mum (whose name I'm afraid I didn't get) was lending a caring and skilful hand. After eating some amazing food, Nuwan drove us to the airport. All in all, it was a wonderful experience, and we would recommend the Negombo Cooking Class to anyone. A special and memorable end to our fabulous trip to this great country. The perfect ending. Many thanks to Nuwan, Erangi and their family for welcoming us into their home and teaching us so much about Sri Lankan food and cooking.

Authentic experience, best curry we had in Sri Lanka 🙏 - Highly recommend this class! It’s a real authentic experience in the hosts home! Her and her mother walk you through every part of making a Sri Lankan curry! Everything from cracking open a coconut and making your own milk and sambal to frying off onions for the garnish (and everything in between). She runs you through all the spices and you end up making 7 different dishes (5 veg, Dahl and curry of your choice - we did chicken).
It’s very clean - your made to wash your hand between all stages and all the utensils are used for one dish only to avoid any cross-contamination!
It was a lovely experience and is close to the airport, which is great if you have a few hours to kill before you’re flight!

Incredible experience - Absolutely incredible experience! Myself and my husband did the cooking class with Erangi yesterday and we had a brilliant day. When we arrived she made us tea and gave us traditional treats. Then we were able to pick out what vegetables we wanted to make curries with from a huge selection. It was a very interactive process - Erangi demonstrates and then you do it which we loved. She is an excellent teacher. The curries we made were incredible! Such amazing food. They also emailed us the recipes after so we have a copy. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough - Erangis mother, husband and son are all lovely and it was a highlight of our trip.

Authentic Sri Lankan cooking - What an experience. This is the genuine thing, so authentic. Our hosts invited us into their home with grace and kindness. We learnt so much about Sri Lankan cooking. We made a chicken curry with 8 accompanying vegetable curries. Who knew there were so many different flavours to be created! We enjoyed the meal and delicious pancakes for our dessert.
Thank you so much for this amazing time.

Unforgettable cooking class - We are enthusiastic about the cooking class at Erangi. This day could not have been better! This course will always remain in our best memory.
In their traditional kitchen, we prepared everything ourselves on the gas stove, in clay pots. She lovingly and professionally explained to us what spice is called, which spice is used in which dish. We prepared 5 vegetable curries, a fish curry, a sweet potato curry and rice. She let us try to open the coconut with a machete. We prepared papadams, in a small pan with a spoon from the coconut. She showed us how to measure with her fingers how much water the washed rice needs to become delicious.
As if eating the curries at the laid table your mother and Erangi prepared for us absolutely, delicious omelets with sweet coke filling. 😍

Unforgettable experience - Erangy teached us, how to cook Sri Lanka food. We coud choose many vegetables and fish or chicken. Then she showed us everything very clearly and we did it on our own. She touched our hearts! We are very impressed by the heartful kind manner she did it. The class is in her house, which is very lovingly and also very clean. She has a lot of patience.♥️

Amazing cookery class, hands on experience of cooking, eating and learning about Sri Lankan food. - We visited the Negombo Cooking Class on day 1 of our trip to Sri Lanka in August 2024. The trip was organised by our tour operator and my husband and I visited with our children (boys aged 12 & 13).
Our host had so much knowledge of Sri Lankan cookery and taught us a lot about using spices and coconuts. We cooked chicken curry, different vegetable curry, rice and sambal. We chose the vegetables we wanted to use, helped prepare the vegetables and book the dishes.
It was very hands on which our children especially enjoyed. We sat down to eat after all the hard work and the food was delicious. We were sent the recipes by email after the class.
I would highly recommend, it was lovely meeting the host and her family and being welcomed into her home and understand real Sri Lankan cookery. Thank you so much
