5* Vassilakis Olive Oil facility tour - It is our first visit to Crete and we decided that we should do an olive oil tour and learn how olives are harvested, processed and made into olive oil, including learning about the different types of olive oil and what makes one type better or different than another.
Our tour was guided by Alina, a lovely sociable and knowledgeable young Lady.
The Vassilakis Estate is a modern well kept facility and absolutely worth a visit. We purchased some goodies for home and to use with our new found knowledge.
Thank you for a great experience.

Compulsory attendance is advised! - To be absolutely honest, we did not go on any other 'olive oil' tours, but this one was fantastic! We just turned up and were asked if you would like a tour - gratis! Yes please - and we were not disappointed!! A great tour, by our charming tour guide Alina, which included the history & the family, the process, the facilities and culminating in a tasting of the produce. Clever marketing or just a justifiable confidence in the products? We look forward to enjoying our purchases when we return home!!
Highly recommended stop to all those visiting the area.

A perfect stopp for the day - Perfect for a stopp to learn about and taste the Greek olive oil. It started with a quick 15-20 minute tour, with a tour guide of your preferred language which is really nice and friendly. Afterwards we got to try olive oil, balsamic, limoncello, olives and even a cosmetic product.
We finally stopped at the store where we could try even more products.
The Tour itself was free, but you will spend plenty of money at the store like we did.
The store can get a little bit crowded but they have two places to shop at the property.
It was our second time there because we really love the products. They even have some travel size products for your hand luggage.
Definitely worth it and perfect for a short little stopp during the day.

Great Stop in Crete for Olive Oil Lovers - We visited Vassilakis Estate in Crete, an olive oil producer that’s been running since 1865. They offer a free guided tour of the mill and grounds. “Free” really means you’ll likely end up buying something from their shop—but with the quality of the products, we didn’t mind.
The setting is beautiful, with historic touches and a warm, family-run feel. On the tour we sampled several olive oils, vinegars, and even body oil products. Everything was flavorful and unique—much better than what you usually find in supermarkets.
The shop is well stocked with olive oils, vinegars, and gift-ready products, perfect to take home or share. Overall, this was a pleasant stop and worth a visit if you’re exploring Crete and love authentic local food.
Tip: The tour is free, but it’s smart to plan on bringing a little extra room in your suitcase—you’ll probably want to bring something home!
