Marvel at the beautifully restored sanctuary, capture stunning photos, and explore the small on-site museum. Please note that on Tuesdays and May 1st, the Temple of Demeter is closed, and the tour will instead visit the village of Filoti. Additionally, if a heat wave is forecasted, the temple will close early (at noon), and the afternoon tour (departing at 13:00) will visit Filoti village instead of the Temple of Demeter.
- Chalki - Your next destination is Chalki village, the former capital and commercial hub of Naxos. Enjoy approximately 40 minutes of free time to wander through its vibrant alleys, shop for unique souvenirs, visit the “Vallindras” distillery, or simply relax with a coffee at one of its charming cafes.
- Filoti - In the lively village of Filoti, which is bustling all year round, you will visit the church and explore the fascinating collection at the folklore museum, housed in a traditional old house. This brief yet enriching visit offers a glimpse into the local villagers’ lives, their deep connection with the church, and their warm hospitality, as you sample two local products: cheese and raki.
- Panagia Drossiani Church - Continue your drive through ancient olive groves to reach Panagia Drosiani, a church with a unique architectural style dedicated to the Virgin Mary, considered one of the oldest in the Balkans! Here, you will make a brief stop to take photos and, if the church is open, admire its distinctive frescoes.
- Kinidaros - Just outside the village of Kinidaros, pause briefly by the roadside to photograph the impressive modern marble quarries.
- Melanes Kouros Statue - Stroll through the lush gardens of Flerio valley to “meet” the Kouros Statue, a remarkable example of Naxian marble artistry.
- Limpertas Manolis Pottery - On Tuesdays and May 1st, when the Temple of Demeter is closed, the tour will visit a traditional pottery workshop in Damalas Village instead. Similarly, if a heat wave is predicted, the temple will close early (at noon), and the afternoon tour (departing at 13:15) will again visit the pottery workshop in Damalas Village.
