Arctic Train transports you 43 kilometres through a desolate, wild and beautiful landscape along the Ofot line. The line stretches from Narvik in Nordland to Bjørnfjell close to the Swedish boarder and is Norway’s most northerly railway. Ofotbanen

The initiation of the Ofotbanen dates back to the late 19th century and spanned into the early years of the subsequent century. This rail line was established to provide an ice-free export harbor for the immense iron ore reserves found in northern Sweden. Migrant laborers, also known as ‘rallers’, pursued their luck in what was colloquially known as Europe’s ‘Klondyke’. The construction involving over 5,000 individuals marked the apex of this endeavor.
