Highlights
  • Mt. Fuji 5th Station - Mt. Fuji 5th Station is located 2300 meters above sea level, offering a close view of Mt. Fuji if the weather is clear. There are many souvenir shops for shopping.

This is the best spot for climbers to start their ascent to the top of Mt. Fuji. The climbing season runs from July 14 to September 10.

During the hiking season, access to the 5th station is restricted. You must take a shuttle bus, which costs 2100¥ per person.

  • Lake Kawaguchiko - Lake Kawaguchiko is a beautiful lake and serves as the gateway to the Fuji Five Lakes area. You can enjoy a ship cruise or take a ropeway cable car up to Kachi Kachi Mountain. From here, you can get a clear view of Mt. Fuji if the weather is good.

Separate entry fees apply for the ship cruise and ropeway cable car.

  • Ensoleille Excursion Ship Pleasure Boat Kawaguchiko - You can experience both a ship cruise and the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway cable car up to Kachi Kachi Mountain, offering close views of Mt. Fuji.

The cruise boats at Lake Kawaguchiko offer a 20-minute ride that brings you close to Mt. Fuji, providing clear views if the weather is clear.

The ship cruise requires an additional fee, or you can simply take pictures and move on to the next spot.

The ropeway cable car goes up to Kachi Kachi Mountain, offering close views of Mt. Fuji if the weather is not rainy or cloudy.

  • Oshino Hakkai - Oshino Hakkai, or the Eight Seas of Oshino, consists of eight ponds located in the Fuji Five Lakes area, on the site of a former sixth lake that dried out centuries ago. The ponds are fed by snowmelt from Mount Fuji that filters through volcanic rock over several decades, making the waters remarkably clear and pristine.

You can get a close, clear view of Mt. Fuji from here.

  • Owakudani Kurotamago Kan - Owakudani is one of the most popular places to visit in Hakone, known for its steaming thermal volcanic vents in the mountains.

The black eggs, boiled in sulfurous waters, have distinctive shells. Eating these eggs is believed by Japanese people to add seven years to your life span.

You can get a close, clear view of Mt. Fuji from here if the weather is good.

  • Lake Ashinoko - Lake Ashinoko is a beautiful lake, home to the famous Hakone Shrine with its large red torii gate along the shore, known as the “Gate of Peace” (heiwa no torii). The gate was erected in 1952 to commemorate the crown prince’s reign and Japan’s independence.

You can take a pirate ship or a ropeway cable car, but separate entry fees apply.

Day trip to Mt Fuji - Rana was an amazing driver and a guide. We did one day trip to Mt Fuji and we had a great experience with this tour company. Highly recommended. Unfortunately because of weather we couldn't see the Mt Fuji but overall we enjoyed the lake Kawaguchi.

Mt Fuji day trip - We had a wonderful time & got to see Mt Fuji, Lake Kawaguchiko, Cheurita Pagoda and Oshini Village. Beautiful day. Rana gave recommendations and kept us on time. Tana took us to cheesecake bakery where we had most delicious goodies & ice cream. Highly recommend this day trip even with rush hour traffic back to Tokyo!

Good idea for a tour but terrible guide/driver or whatever he was meant to be. - Mount Fuji day tour from Tokyo, an off hand Indian guy picked us up, his car was dinted and had a half empty bottle of coke in the rear door. As we got going he swapped the SIM in his phone over (while speeding, we thought we were in our own “Taken” movie). We soon found out the reason for the SIM swap was so he could argue with someone for 40 minutes at the first stop while we looked around. Second stop he did the same thing as well as texting while he was driving, sometimes way under the speed limit then over when he finished. Trouble at home from what I could gather. He had almost no English and wouldn’t answer the few questions I did ask. When we were nearly back he put a heap of pressure on for a 5 star review which of course we haven’t done. We also had to pay for any parking and admission to the outdoor museum we went to, no big deal but we assumed that would be included. We saw what we needed to see but he was piece of work, a couple of other little Gems on the trip were he turned up in jeans and a T shirt with no sign, and smelt a bit, he took a short cut up one of the winding roads, came around a corner on a narrow section and had to jam the brakes on, to get past he had to pull right over and scraped the fence with his LH front bumper.

Not well planned trip - My trip day was a rainy day. So my trip was cut much shorter than it should be. The trip major site was cut. I wish Viator have a plan B, instead just cut the trip short.
