Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Equator Marker - Departure from Nairobi Hotel/Residence/Airport is scheduled for 6 am, followed by a 2.5-hour drive to Nanyuki town, arriving at 8:30 am. Here, there will be a stop at the equator crossing, an imaginary line that divides the Earth into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. A large sign marks the spot, providing a perfect photo opportunity to commemorate crossing the equator.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy - Continue for an additional 15 minutes to reach the conservancy gate.
The first game drive begins, lasting at least 3 hours, offering the chance to see chimpanzees and other wildlife on the northern side of this expansive conservancy.
Arrive at Serena Sweetwaters Lodge by 2 pm. Here, observe animals visiting the watering hole in front of the lodge while capturing photos of the resident monkeys. Enjoy a delightful lunch.
Proceed to the eastern side of the park to visit Baraka, a blind rhino.
Additional game drives are available en route to the hotel.
Dinner and overnight stay at Kongoni Camp or a similar establishment.
Mount Kenya to Nairobi
Mount Kenya - 7:00 am: Departure from your hotel to Mount Kenya via Sirimon Gate.
7:40 am: After completing park entry formalities at Sirimon Gate, embark on a 3½-hour (9 km) hike through forest, bamboo, rosewood, and heather zones to Old Moses Camp (also known as Judmeier Camp) at 3,300 meters.
Gain 740 meters in elevation, beginning the acclimatization process. The forest and bamboo areas are home to numerous buffaloes, elephants, bushbucks, and a variety of bird species.
11:30 am: Hike an additional 1 km from Old Moses Camp to 3,600 meters to view two Mount Kenya peaks – Nelion and Batian, which are only climbed by professional alpinists.
1:00 pm: After taking photos, descend from 3,600 meters to Old Moses Camp at 3,300 meters for a picnic lunch.
2:00 pm: After lunch, descend 9 km (1.5 hours) to Sirimon Gate, where your driver guide will transfer you back to Nairobi, arriving around 6:00 pm.
