We then move past Wlotska’s Backen, a local holiday resort, and discover its origins. We stop to walk through a Lichen Field, exploring how these tiny lichens survive in such arid conditions. Our journey continues to the Zeila shipwreck and then to Henties Bay, where we enjoy a light lunch platter. The route takes us past the Gallows monument, which has been modified, and onward to the Cape Cross seal colony, where Diego erected a marble cross. A walkway allows us to get close to thousands of seals. After spending time photographing these charming animals, we reluctantly head home.
- Zeila Shipwreck - We stop on the way to Cape Cross between Swakopmund and Henties Bay to see the Zeila Shipwreck in the sea.
- Wlotzkasbaken - We pass by various vacation houses located along the shore between Swakopmund and Henties Bay.
- Gallows Monument - Here, you will see the Gallows Monument, erected in 1978 as a plea to keep the beach clean.
- Hentiesbaai - After our stop at the seal colony, we will refuel the car to ensure a smooth and safe journey back to your accommodation.
