Highlights

Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

Equator Marker - This imaginary line divides the Earth into two hemispheres: north and south. There’s a prominent sign where you can take a photo to mark your crossing of the equator before continuing your journey, arriving in time for lunch.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy - You’ll be picked up from your hotel at 6 a.m. and driven to Nanyuki, where you’ll stop to take a photo at the iconic equator crossing point. From there, you’ll proceed to Ol Pejeta National Park and head to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary. A local guide will lead a walk where you can get up close to the chimps, and if you’re lucky, you might even get to feed them with the caretaker guides. From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., you’ll enjoy more game drives and visit Baraka, a blind rhino in a special enclosure. During the afternoon game drives, you’ll encounter the three rare northern white rhinos. From 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., you’ll depart Ol Pejeta and head to Mount Kenya. Your driver will take you to Old Moses Camp, where you’ll spend the night. The next day, you’ll start early with a hike to the first peak/viewpoint, have lunch there with your guide, then descend the mountain to the gate, arriving around 3 p.m. You’ll then begin your 2-hour drive back to Nairobi.

Sweetwaters Serena Camp - At 12 p.m., head to the Serena Sweetwaters Lodge for lunch. Here, you’ll get very close to the animals coming to the watering hole in front of the lodge.

Mount Kenya National Park - Depart and head to Nanyuki town to meet your mountain guide. At 5 p.m., you’ll start the drive to the gate, arriving by 6 p.m., and head to the first climbing camp called Old Moses Camp. Here, you’ll have dinner and sleep, which is excellent for acclimatization.

Additional Information

Visit chimpanzees and do mountain climbing all in two days and get a life time experience.

Chimpanzee
The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary was established with an agreement between the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and the Jane Goodall Institute. The aim – to provide lifelong refuge to orphaned and abused chimpanzees from West and Central Africa. Many are confiscated from cramped and unnatural living conditions, and many arrive with horrific injuries sustained from abuse at the hands of humans. Here at Sweetwaters, they get a chance to start over.

MOUNT KENYA

Climbing to 5,199 meters, is the second tallest mountain in Africa. The scenery surrounding this designated World Heritage Site is breath-taking. It is pristine wilderness with lakes, tarns, glaciers, dense forest, mineral springs and a selection of rare and endangered species of animals, high altitude adapted plains game and unique montane and alpine vegetation.
