Highlights
  • Nairobi National Park - Start your safari at 6.30am to Nairobi National Park and get the chance to see more than 100 different species of animals including lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, rhinos, zebras, gazelles, impala, elands, hartebeests, wildebeests, hyena, jackals, civet cats and many more.

The animals are easy to spot and you should look out for the white and black rhinos in the park as they are a main item on your game driving experience. The lions will take some time to track but eventually you will find them. Hippos can be seen at the river or in some of the numerous manmade earth dams in the park. Cheetahs are mostly fond of staying in the large plains to the southernmost fringes of the park where plains game prey is plentiful and easy to catch.

Leave the park after extensive tour at 10 am then head to David Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage, located on the edge of Nairobi National Park. Since its inception, the project has hand-reared more than 150 baby elephants that have been orphaned in the wild, often due to poaching. The orphanage helps to reintegrate these gorgeous creatures into the wilds of Tsavo National Park in the east of the country. Learn more about this fascinating venture and see the baby elephants being fed by their keepers.

Proceed to Giraffe Centre. The centre has been ostensibly set up as a breeding centre for the endangered Rothschild giraffe, but now operates conservation/education programs for Kenyan school children.

There is good information on giraffes available there, and an elevated feeding platform where visitors meet the resident giraffes face to face.

Lunch break at Mamba Village.

Continue on to Bomas of Kenya, which offers Kenya in miniature! It is a must visit to all visitors. Bomas of Kenya lets you see the wonderful diversity of cultures that make up this fascinating country.Bomas different aspects of Kenyan culture are displayed including living styles, crafts, music and dancing.

The word Bomas was derived from “Boma”-a Swahili word for enclosed homestead and there are now many different “Bomas”, each one representing one of Kenya’s major ethnic groups.

Continue on to the Karen Blixen Museum and Giraffe centre, popularly known for the movie “Out of Africa”. Visit The Langata Giraffe Centre where you can feed the endangered Rothschild’s giraffes and to the Karen Blixen Museum of the “Out of Africa” fame.

End the Safari and go back to your hotel by 5pm.

Convenient - It was worth the visit. The national park is close to Nairobi city, so no need to pack for days of travel. The giraffe center and elephant orphanage are also closely located from the national park. These two places were very crowded, though.

Great safari taster - Was such a good deal! Watson managed to get us to all the animal sightings quickly so we were always one of the closest vehicles. He also managed to get us straight into the giraffe sanctuary without queueing.

Last day in Nairobi for now - We booked KT Safaris Ltd to take us on a day excursion to Nairobi National Park, the elephant orphanage, giraffe centre and the karen Blixen Museum. Its our last full day in Nairobi before returning home to Ireland tomorrow evening, we were collected at out hotel by Watson, he was such a great guide, we managed to finish off our holiday by seeing a pride of lionesses and a cub, as well as a crocodile...... nothing was too much trouble, he allowed us plenty of time to take photos, then onto the elephant orphanage giraffe centre and the museum with a lunch stop in between, great food and great value for money where we ate. This tour was very good value for money. We are returning next year so will arrange for a days sightseeing in Nairobi with Watson before heading further afield. Thank you for making the last day of our holiday so special

Beautiful Views of Nairobi’s Landscape and Animals - This was an amazing experience and our tour guide Watson was awesome! We got started early in the morning and our group was small which was perfect for the vehicle and the viewing. When we reached the park it was a little before sunset so it was awesome to watch the sunrise as well as glimpse the early movers and shakers. Started off seeing lots of gazelles and as the day progressed we saw so much more, including these little monkeys that were so playful and full of energy. Our day wrapped up seeing the most anticipated—lions! We say two lionesses on the move. Just gracefully strolling along the road, unbothered by anything. Our guide Watson took us to areas where we were able to view the hippos and giraffes up close. We forgot binoculars but we didn’t even need them because Watson had all the perfect viewing spots!! This tour is a must do if you are in the area and ask for Watson when you book, you won’t be disappointed!!

Great experience - Nairobi National Park surprised me with an abundance of wildlife. I was able to view black and white rhinos, lions, zebras, giraffes, buffalo, servals, black backed jackal, hippos, a crocodile and an array of birds. I wasn’t sure what to expect with the Sheldrick widlife trust and the giraffe center but they exceeded my expectation. The guide picked me up right on time at my hotel and contacted me the night before to inform about the pick up time. I would recommend it to anyone interested in wildlife!

Perfect day in Nairobi National Park with Watson - Great tour overall with Watson in the Nairobi National Park. He waited for us in advanced, provided us with useful information, had a great energy and smile and conducted a perfect tour from 5:30am to our way back around 3pm. We have seen so many animals like all the big 5 (except Jaguar), Watson was always communicating on the radio to find them. We had great food for lunch. Everything was great!

Thank you, Watson! - In Nairobi national park there are a lot of animals to see, but there are the mayor 5 that everyone is always looking for. Our guide was the best, always had the best spots even when it was crowded. We arrived perfectly on time to see the baby elephants because of him. He is so experienced, you could tell by just looking at him driving around the park. However, if you want to make sure to pay by card, you have to register first in ecitizen Kenya Also, they charge you only for the guide and the van, that means you have to pay for your own tickets, but almost everyone does the same

Good all round tour of some major Nairobi sights - Excellent your, well planned and some excellent spotting thanks to Watson. Given you have to pay park fees to visit Sheldrick, I would highly recommend this tour to see all sights in one day.
