Meet the other side of Nairobi - Visiting Kibera is hard and rewarding at the same time. You will probably meet the most resilient people on earth. Zack and his friends were so nice and welcoming. They tell you what their needs are without shame or pity, and without pressuring you to make any monetary contribution (which, at the end of the visit, you would like to do anyway). There is a sense of dignity in this tour; it is not a human safari, it is real and rough. I would advise making it with KCOOP because they are locals, not foreign NGOs - they have lived in Kibera and they know better than anyone what is required for the neighbourhood. Personally, I don't like pictures being taken of the kids - even if you are free to take pictures, remember that they are not food for your IG / Facebook content, nor do they consent to it in the first place. Overall, this experience would change one's life. I cannot but highly recommend it if you are really interested in knowing how people in Kibera live and what their concerns, ambitions, and hopes are.

An important part of any... - An important part of any trip to Kenya so you can see all of the country and it's wonderful people. Erik knows the community very well, having been raised in Kibera and still living there. He's a great guide, full of stories and introductions to wonderful kids he helps. Highly recommended for anyone interested it a more full trip to this fantastic country and its people.

Eye-Opening and Respectful Local Experience - This tour gave us an honest and respectful insight into everyday life in one of Nairobi’s most vibrant and resilient communities. Our guides, Emmanuel and Zack, live in the area themselves and offered a perspective that was both personal and meaningful. We felt safe, welcomed, and deeply moved by the experience. It’s not a tour about sights – it’s a tour about people, community, and reality. Thank you, Emmanuel and Zack, for sharing your world with us.

The best experience - This is a unique experience in Nairobii. Everyone goes to Kenya for safari, but on the way there, you can do this. You'll be in Nairobi for a few nights anyway. It may seem expensive, but it's not. You get back so much of what you see and experience, from the kids. Just fantastic. Have you ever seen more than 100 kids excited about you? Small efforts by us make many happy there and put a smile on their faces. Don't forget to bring your second-hand clothes.

An exceptional experience - We visited Kibera, after being reticent, not wishing to be voyeurs or appear as rich people, which we are not by comparison with our peers. Yes, we are financially rich in comparison, you will find richness of life in Kibera, which does not always follow with financial gain. We were met at The Mall by Benta, who ordered an Uber and took us into the charity's office in the heart of Kibera. We met Jack who explained how this charity is not backed by a major organistion but came into being from a concept by Erick to put 50% of money raised from the tour back into the community. All these individuals are volunteers and still live in Kibera. The tour was very safe, people are pleased to see you, from a distance, no hounding. The children love to greet you politely, with happy smiles and high fives, but without pestering. There are so many people living in Kibera, a very true intimate place of high values. Differing tourist currency money goes far in the slums. Visiting can make a big difference. Don't miss this chance to be informed. We thank Jack and Benta for an honest, open, informative tour, two great guides. Benta, thank you for inviting us into your home and to meet your lovely daughter. PS Lunch 5*

Excellent tour, humbling experience - The kcoop organization is the way to book this tour. Not only are the guides amazing but they give back to the community. They live in the Kabera, they know it, and they are known by the people there. The kids were friendly with them and just followed us around. Bring them something little, they were so happy to get a lolly pop.

Excellent tour, a must do - So glad I booked this tour, Erick and his team were so passionate about the community and making sure any questions we had were answered. They went into detail about the struggles the community face and how they are trying to help with their organisation KCOOP. I really enjoyed my time there and recommend anyone who visits Nairobi takes time out to go. Many thanks Erick and team!

It was a very good tour. - I learned a lot from them because they detailed the current situation and explanation of the slums. It was nice to spend half of the proceeds on the children. In fact, Eric and his friends were handing out food to the children during the tour. It was also reassuring for me as a Japanese to know that Eric was very punctual and reminded me the day before the tour. The explanation was in English, but it was easy to understand because he spoke in simple English. It was a very good tour.
