Bomas of Kenya is a cultural village located in Langata, Nairobi, about 6 miles from the city center and close to the main entrance of Nairobi National Park. Established in 1971 after Kenya gained independence in 1964, it is managed by the Kenyan Government to celebrate the country’s rich cultural heritage. The village showcases replicas of traditional homesteads from 23 of Kenya’s ethnic groups.
Visitors can explore traditional villages representing various Kenyan tribes. Bomas of Kenya also boasts one of the largest auditoriums in Africa. Each homestead in this cultural village is constructed according to the traditional designs of different Kenyan tribes, highlighting their architecture, crafts, music, and dance.
