Arrival in Nairobi

Nairobi - Welcome to Kenya. You shall meet one of our representatives at the airport and be transferred to your hotel. As you prepare to kick off your safari to Aberdares, you’ll be briefed on the code of conduct and what is expected from your safari itinerary.

Explore the highlands and wildlife in Aberdares

Aberdare National Park - Kenyan Highlands, Forest Elephants, huge herds of buffalos and uninterrupted views of Mt. Kenya are what await you in the Aberdares. Subtly coined the Scotland of Kenya, this region shares similar climatic conditions to Scotland, with snow being the only exception. Game drives are rewarding and as an introductory destination to Kenya Safari, you’ll get a glimpse of the history of Kenya’s Safari.

A typical game drive will allow you to spot the Forest Elephants, Bongo, Buffaloes and hyenas. The park is also home to a wide variety of bird life including Bulbul, Shrikes, and Sparrows among others.
Breakfast is included, with lunch always served at the lodge. Later in the evening, you’ll be transferred back to the lodge for dinner and accommodation.

Explore flamingos and hot springs of Lake Bogoria

Lake Bogoria - Lake Bogoria is a saline-alkaline lake that lies in a volcanic region, a little north of the equator. The lake is covered with endless swarms of bright, pink flamingoes. Dotting this lake and surrounding areas, steamy hot springs enhance the already dreamlike atmosphere. Now add in the sight of numerous bubbling geysers erupting along the banks and from within the lake itself.
Explore the lake on foot, glimpsing at the many geysers. The birdlife here is wonderful, so keep an eye on some rare species.
Breakfast is included, with lunch always served at the lodge. Later in the evening, you’ll be transferred back to the lodge for dinner and accommodation.

Hiking/cycling at Hell’s Gate National Park

Hell’s Gate National Park - The park was used as inspiration for the award-winning Lion King Animation. The landscape here is surreal and offers a haven for wildlife as there are no predators here, making it safe for one to walk or cycle around the park. Get up-close with giraffes, zebras and gazelles as you traverse through the park, either on foot, cycling or in your vehicle. Safari walks are always conducted with an armed ranger.

Spotting the Black Rhinos and Flamingos of Lake Nakuru

Lake Nakuru National Park - After an early breakfast, you’re off on a morning game drive in Hell’s Gate National Park (within Lake Naivasha). Aside from all the wildlife, Hell’s Gate is famous for its natural geysers, star rock towers, and geothermal steam, making it one of Africa’s most atmospheric parks.
After the drive, you will then proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park. Along the way, you will pass Mount Longonot and see beautiful landscapes. There will be a short stop for lunch in Mai Mahiu.

In the evening you will arrive at your accommodations, where you will have time to rest before enjoying another authentic African dinner. After dinner, there will be a bonfire where you can meet other travellers and enjoy stories about your safari adventure.

A lot of rain - I think I'll be different from the masses. Our trip to Kenya was not as pleasant as we had hoped. The roads were very muddy and almost impassable. The animals were scattered all over the place, making the drives to view the big 5 very long. The food at the various lodges could have been better as well. We really wanted to see leopards but we didn't. In fact a lot of the game spotting was done by us, not our guide..
