The day began with a sense of anticipation as I joined Nicol, Mary, and fellow adventurers Pedro from the Dominican Republic and a spirited girl from Peru. Our journey to León was long, but the camaraderie made it fly by. We shared stories, laughter, and a mutual excitement for the adventure ahead. The Thrill of Cerro Negro

The real adventure began as we met Junior and his team for the volcano boarding experience. Junior’s infectious smile and responsible demeanor set the tone for what was to come. Our 4x4 driver expertly navigated the rugged terrain, bringing us to the base of Cerro Negro. Here, we registered for the climb, and I was humorously given a ‘National’ paper bracelet, a nod to my growing connection with the local culture.

The ascent was challenging but manageable, with frequent stops for photos and a fun quiz about volcanoes led by Junior.
