Driver was fine; highlights of Muscat were few - Our driver was good about coordinating where we would meet him for our private tour and his English was decent. His car was roomy and clean and he was a good driver. He took us to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque first and we spent an extensive time there. Then he took us to the Opera House, where we could see only the lobby if we didn't buy separate tour tickets. Then he asked if we wanted to go to the Armed Forces Museum (we did not). After that he seemed at a loss for what to do. He didn't offer up any other suggestions other than taking us to the grounds of the Royal (Al Alam) Palace, and thereafter to the Mutrah Souq. When we offered up other suggestions, he claimed that they were uninteresting or closed. He somewhat reluctantly agreed to a couple of our small diversions. Our guide was obviously very proud of his city and country---too bad he had no other creative ideas on how to showcase it.
