Well organised tour to a beautiful place. - This was a great experience, the castle itself is worth visiting but the location is stunning. Stephanie was our guide on our trip. Knowledgeable, clear communication and helpful. She gave some fascinating information about the castle and the Wittlesbach family, as well as some things we saw on the way. There is quite a bit of flexibility on this tour. You have some time to explore or get some food or souvenirs. You can choose whether to go inside the castle or not. And you can choose how you get up to the castle, walking, bus or carriage. Stephanie made sure we all understood the options and the times to be where, giving a handy map and talking us through it. I chose to go inside the castle and enjoyed it a lot. The tour inside is performed by the castle staff themselves and they are very informative. I recommend paying the extra to enter as it is fascinating, plus there is an amazing viewpoint of the Alps from a balcony. But if you chose not to, there are lots of places to explore and enjoy the beautiful location. The walk up to the castle and Marienbrücke is good for anyone of moderate fitness, but wear comfortable shoes. If you don't walk much, you might consider getting the bus up. Stephanie recommended a place halfway up for their Bavarian doughnuts (Quarkbällchen). A great snack for the way down.

A Very Enjoyable Visit to the Castle - My wife and I and her best friend visited the castle on July 23. Our guide was Lana, a funny amusing person. The directions to the meet up place were good. It was about a 2 hour drive there and Lana amused us during the trip. The views of the countryside were great. Once there she explained the various ways we could experience the visit. Trust me, the little map looks nothing like the real place. It is very steep there. Once you have done it, you understand, but in our case we found we weren’t able to get it all in because we dawdled at a restaurant near the lake. We wanted to get to St Mary’s bridge for instance, but we waited too long and there was a long, slow-moving line, to get to it. We had to jump out of line and go to the castle so we didn’t miss our spot. You miss the spot and there is no going into the castle. There are wonderful views from the bridge, BTW. Once in the courtyard we waited 15 minutes for our turn. Much to my dismay, I discovered that we would be walking up 200 steps. If you aren’t healthy enough for that, you are going to be really tired by the time you get to the top. NO photos allowed, and believe me, it is beautiful inside. The woodwork is amazing. All together, we were inside maybe 35 minutes. Well worth it. The ticket to get inside is an extra 24 euros and the guide does not go inside with you. There is an audio guide that works very well. Now to get down. You are really really high up at this point. BTW, we took the bus up. They jam you in there. On the way down we walked to the point where the horse drawn carriage leaves from. Only 4euros per person, a real bargain. And the horse drawn carriage has a motor in it. The horse only contributes 3% of the power. I would say that you should visit the castle twice. Once to get the lay of the place and a second time to use your time to your best advantage.

Great day trip - This tour allowed for great a stress-free opportunity to see one of the most beautiful places in Europe. As a solo traveller, it was nice to have the transport organised, and all necessary information and help given throughout the day. From start to finish, the tour was amazing, as before we even got to the castle, our guide Franjo was telling us about the history of Bavaria, Ludwig II and the castle as we drove through the beautiful countryisde. Once at the location, it was nice to have a large block of time to do whatever we wanted, rather than being hurried off to the next place. I highly recommend walking a few minutes through the town to the big lake for an amazing view. Franjo was great for giving us tips, explaining our options, and keeping the tour fun and engaging.

Best tour of Neuschwanstein Castle - What a trip! Our wonderful tour guide Anna talked us through the history of King Ludwig II of Bavaria on a dynamic train journey full of socializing with others on our tour. We thoroughly enjoyed neuchenstien castle - the look out from Mary's bridge is a must and the inside of the castle was truly magnificent. You have never seen a castle like it! You can learn and have fun/a laugh with everyone.Anna is truly awsome the best tour guide we have ever had and we have been on many tours ,not only full of information she was funny and super friendly and just made the trip by bringing everyone together Book this tour! You won't regret it!

A great castle with interesting history - The castle itself is definitely amazing, totally worth the visit. The surrounding area is very nice and we had great late lunch with beautiful views. I’m not sure if you needed to join the group tour for this though. Seems to be a lot of time wasted by waiting around. The tour guide was not that helpful as most of the information are available online probably better.

Stress Free Trip to Neuschwanstein Castle - The views on the train ride to and from the castle were incredible. Same goes for once you are there- it is beautiful. Stephanie was a great tour guide, very personable and eager to assist and answer questions. We did feel a little rushed inside the castle itself on that tour (not lead by radius they just take you to and from the castle so not their fault). The artwork inside the castle is incredible but the tour is fast paced. We enjoyed the views on the outside and the time we had to hike down and enjoy lunch and snacks before and after. The main pro was a stress free day- Stephanie handled all the logistics and gave us some nice history. I would recommend this trip to friends!

Beautiful Castle- lots of walking aside from the castle tour - The castle was amazing and it was very nice to go on a comfortable bus to get there. The only reason I ranked 3 rather than 4 were for some guidance that would have been helpful. 1. My husband can’t walk for miles. There is a bus you can purchase tickets to about a 10 min walk from where the tour bus drops you that takes you all but about the last 10 minutes or so from castle. We took that and enjoyed the bridge and castle and were advised to walk back (guide said it was downhill and not 40 minutes to the road and 10 more to the tour bus as the map showed). I think we could have maybe taken a horse carriage back down but we didn’t realize it or know where to get it, so a heads up from our guide would have helped. My husband was limping, hunched and panting by the time we got back to the bus. Then two people were in our seats and they said it doesn’t look like we are all staying in the same ones because others were in ours. Someone else said the same so we said okay and found 2 other seats as did other people. Then the last couple to get on the bus yelled at us for being in their seats. I told them people were our seats and it seems people aren’t in the same ones. She was furious and told us to go back to our seats. I said we couldn’t as people were in our seats. She was incensed and made us feel terrible but we didn’t start it and I was not going to try to get my husband up. It was not a language issue either as she had an Australian or New Zealand accent. So I think if the tour guide would announce as we are getting off either “please return to your same seats” or “please note you may return to different seats as we will allow people to change” it would have spared us feeling bad. Also just letting us know options for the horse carriage for not walking the 40 min walk back after having walked quite a bit before and to get to up to the bridge and castle even from the bus and then the castle with all its walking and steps (which we knew about and handled but the last walk down to the bus 40 minutes to road and then another 10 down to where the tour bus was more than he could handle). Luckily we left the castle early once we learned of the walk. Since it took us longer than that with some bench stops to catch his breath. (Long answer sorry!)
