Hidden gem - Conny was an excellent guide with intrinsic knowledge of the area, including all of the local folklore about the palace and Ludwig II. If you have mobility issues, round trip horse wagon transport is available and well worth the small cost. The museum portion of the palace has folding chairs available at its exit that you may borrow to use on the tour.

King Ludwig II, the genius - All 3 castles are breathtaking. Herrenchiemsee is my favorite. Space is perfect. Every aspect is perfect.
Jeremy Tiegen was fun to be with and informative. All in all perfect!

Great tour of an underrated gem near Munich - We had a wonderful time with our guide Conny. After an hour on the train, we got to take a five-minute ride from the station to the shore of the lake in a 100-year old train. The weather was beautiful the day we went, so there were lots of sailboats and paddleboarders.
The palace grounds are stunning and the tour of the interior was fascinating. But the real highlight was the visit to Frauenchiemesee. We loved walking around the island and had time to have a nice lunch and look around the abbey and shops. It was a wonderful day and worth every penny!

Herrenchiemsee Palace - We had a wonderful visit to Herrenchiemsee Palace and Frauninsel Island with Susanne as our guide. She did an EXCELLENT job of explaining the interesting history of King Ludwig ll and the 3 palaces he had built, including Herrenchiemsee.
Frauninsel Island was also very lovely and quite peaceful. Thankfully it wasn’t crowded when we visited.
I would advise you to bring bug spray when you take this tour as there were quite a few mosquitos when we visited.
Overall, my family thoroughly enjoyed this excursion!

Super, relaxed tour - This tour is well put together.
We departed from the Radius Tour offices and took the train to the nearby town. We then took another (this time tourist steam) train to the boat to reach the island on which the palace is located.
We had enough time to explore the palace grounds and the island on our own, as well as getting to tour the palace with an official guide (which is the only way you can tour the interior of the palace).
We took the boat again to another nearby island, where our guide gave us recommendations for lunch. It is a late lunch, so you'll want to bring snacks with you or eat on the train or at the palace before the tour (the palace has a cafe).
There was a delay on the return train back to Munich, but that wasn't the tour operator's fault. All in all, a great, relaxing tour.

Long Day to See Palace - The short tour of the palace was not worth the long trip on regional rail, steam locomotive and boat. Unlike every other tour of historic buildings we were not allowed to take pictures. Did they want to sell more postcards and books? Guide did a nice job managing a difficult 10 hour trip. See nearby (to Munich) sights instead.
