Autobahn A95 - The Drive
Departing from Munich, the journey towards the Alps begins on Autobahn A95. This is where the experience starts to change. There’s no rush, just genuine movement.
In certain areas, there is no set speed limit. If traffic conditions permit, the driver will safely demonstrate the natural flow of the road. The drive is smooth, controlled, and always within a comfort zone.
This segment is not about speed itself. It is about the sensation of the drive.

Zugspitze - Zugspitze Cable Car – Ascent to the Summit
Before setting off, the operational status of the cable car and the weather at the summit are checked. Please be aware that the main cable car might be closed for scheduled maintenance. In such cases, the cogwheel train is taken to the Zugspitzplatt station. The current operational status is always verified before the trip to ensure the best possible route to the glacier.
Please bring a warm jacket as temperatures at the summit can drop below freezing even on a sunny day.
At the base station, the cable car takes you up to Zugspitze, Germany’s highest point. The cabins are spacious, the ride is quiet, and the view gradually unfolds as you ascend above the valley.
In just a few minutes, the scenery transitions from forest to high alpine terrain.

Zugspitze - Zugspitze Summit – Time at the Top
At 2,962 meters, everything feels a bit different. The air is crisper, the light is brighter, and the views extend far beyond the horizon.
On clear days, peaks across four countries are visible. On other days, clouds drift slowly through the mountains, sometimes revealing, sometimes obscuring the view.
You can stroll between viewpoints, step onto the glacier area, or simply take a moment to look around. It’s a place where people naturally slow down without realizing it.
Note: Admission is optional. You decide on the day whether to ascend based on weather conditions and your preference. Tickets are not included unless the All-Inclusive option is selected.
Please bring a warm jacket as temperatures at the summit can drop below freezing even on a sunny day.
- Eibsee - Eibsee Lake – Walk by the Water
At the base of Zugspitze, Eibsee feels serene and open after the heights of the mountains. The water is clear, with varying shades of blue and green depending on the light.
You can walk along the shoreline or take part of the full circuit around the lake, which takes about two hours at a leisurely pace. Along the way, small paths lead to quiet spots by the water.
In warmer months, it’s also possible to rent a boat or pedal boat and spend some time on the lake itself.
-
Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Lunch Stop near Eibsee or in Garmisch
After time by the lake, lunch is enjoyed in Garmisch. The town offers a more relaxed atmosphere and a wider choice of restaurants than the busy mountain area.
The restaurant is usually chosen on the spot, depending on availability and preference. Well-known options include traditional Bavarian places such as Gasthaus zur Schranne or Hofbräustüberl, both known for their spacious interiors and classic local food.
It is an easy and natural part of the day. Good food, no rush, and a quiet pause before the drive back.

Tourist Information Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Garmisch-Partenkirchen – Village Walk.
After lunch, there is time for a short walk through Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
What many people don’t notice is that this is actually two towns in one. The older part, Partenkirchen, feels more traditional, with painted houses, small courtyards, and quiet streets. Ludwigstraße is one of those places where you simply walk and look around.
If a more lively atmosphere is preferred, the central area around Richard-Strauss-Platz offers cafés, shops, and an easy walk through the pedestrian zone.
It’s a simple stop, just enough to see the town from a more local side before heading back.
-
Munich - Return to Munich – Drive Back.
The return to Munich is calm and unhurried.
After the mountains, the road feels different. The pace slows down, the day settles, and there is time to simply sit back and look outside.
