- Tegernsee - Until the secularization in 1806, the Tegernsee valley was under the control of Benedictine monks for over a millennium. Later, the Bavarian king acquired the monastery buildings, transforming them into his summer residence. Today, this beautiful area attracts many celebrities, often seen at the renowned ‘Bräustüberl’ in the historic monastery building, where a brief stop is recommended. Alongside Bavarian specialties, Tegernsee beer is served. The brewery, managed by the descendants of the Bavarian kings, is located on the former monastery grounds.
- Achensee - Shortly after crossing the German-Austrian border, Lake Achensee is reached. Spanning nearly 10 km in length and reaching a depth of 130 meters, it is Tyrol’s largest lake. The road along the east bank, with its numerous viewpoints, offers excellent photo opportunities and stunning views! Seasonally, a historic cogwheel steam train travels from the lake’s southern end to the Inn Valley in about 30 minutes.

- Mittenwald - This market town, surrounded by towering alpine peaks, gained wealth and prosperity through the “Bozener Markt,” still visible today in the beautifully decorated houses (“Lüftlmalerei”) and the impressive Rococo church of St. Peter and Paul. A second economic boost came from the still-thriving violin-making industry. The Karwendel cable car takes you to Germany’s second-highest mountain railway station at 2,244 meters above sea level.
