Highlights
  • Mosta Rotunda - The Sanctuary Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady

The Mosta Dome, is a Roman Catholic parish church and basilica in Mosta, Malta, dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. It was built between 1833 and the 1860s to neoclassical designs of Giorgio Grognet de Vassé, on the site of an earlier Renaissance church which had been built around 1614 to designs of Tommaso Dingli.

The design of the present church is based on the Pantheon in Rome, has the third-largest unsupported dome in the world, and is Malta’s largest and most famous church. The church narrowly avoided destruction during World War

  • Mdina Old City - Mdina also known by its Italian epithets Città Vecchia (“Old City”)

Mdina is a fortified city in the Northern Region of Malta which served as the island’s capital from antiquity to the medieval period. The city is still confined within its walls, and has a population of 250, but it is contiguous with the town of Rabat, which takes its name from the Arabic word for suburb, and has a population of over 11,000.

  • St. Paul’s Grotto - Initially located outside the former Roman City of Melite, the Wignacourt Museum forms part of a Pauline complex as it is materially linked to St Paul’s Grotto, the cradle of Christianity in Malta. This is the place where St Paul the Apostle, in A.D. 60, is believed to have founded the first Christian Community on the island.
  • Dingli Cliffs - Dingli cliffs are located on Malta’s western coast just off the picturesque village of Dingli.

Rock-cut tombs dating back to Phoenician, Carthaginian and Roman times have been found in the limits of Dingli. Roman baths and other remains were also found at Għajn Handful and the area of Ta’ Baldu.

  • San Anton Gardens - The San Anton Gardens in Attard are probably the best known of the islands’ public gardens.
The elegant space dates back to the 17th Century when it was used as the venue for diplomatic affairs. Each visitor would gift a new plant to the garden’s collection and, thus, current visitors can meet countless species of ancient trees and species - some of which are more than 300 years old.
