100% worth the hike, lovely people & great views. - What a wonderful trip! The view of KILI from Materuni Village can't be beat. The hike to the waterfall was great and wonderful to interact with the locals along the way. The falls themselves are AMAZING. My guide, Mangi, was excellent - very knowledegable, patient with my lack of speed :-) He is also an A+ photographer, which is lovely when traveling solo! The lunch and coffee experience, also excellent. Definitely book this hike and try to get Mangi, if you can!

Wonderful hike and amazing coffee - Wonderful tour and a good stretch of the legs. Our guides, Sylvester and Julius were excellent and very knowledgeable. We couldn’t have been in better hands. The hike itself was 4 miles total and a little strenuous but not difficult terrain. The waterfall was beautiful. We had a great lunch including an excellent local soup. This was followed by a fun and lively demonstration of the entire coffee process that ended with an amazing cup of the freshest coffee possible Many thanks to our great guides and their team.

Great Experience - Our day trip to the waterfall was simply fantastic, thanks mainly to our great guide Sylvester! He was super friendly, competent and enriched the day with exciting stories and his enthusiasm for nature. The waterfall was stunning, and Sylvester showed us the best photo spots and made everyone feel comfortable. An unforgettable experience – thank you, New Year’s Eve! Highly recommended!

Amazing Tour - You do not want to miss it! - We had an INCREDIBLE time on our Materuni Village, Waterfall, and Coffee Tour. We planned to have four days in and around Moshi. After a few days of Safari, we were looking for something to do on our last day. This was PERFECT. Sylvester was our guide and he was amazing. He is from Materuni village and grew up there, so there is no better guide and the tour was informative, fun, and personal. We were picked up from our hotel in Moshi. The drive to the hiking trail is about 30 minutes up the side of the mountain with many beautiful views of the scenery and villages. The hike to the waterfall is half hike/half walk on lovely trails with gorgeous views of valleys and farms. The walk was the perfect mix of effort and relaxing - I believe that any person/age/fitness level could complete it. The waterfall itself was stunning. We were lucky to be the first two people there. We swam, relaxed, and took photos before hiking back. We were then given the choice to drive, do a longer easier hike, or a shorter steeper hike to get to the waterfall. We chose the shorter and steeper hike which was a good workout before beginning the coffee tour. The tour itself was incredible. Not a typical (and sometimes cheesy) tourist attraction. Sylvester expertly explained the history, process, and showed us the plants. We also tried the beans. They then took us through the entire harvesting, roasting, and grinding process, which we were allowed to participate in. We ended the tour by drinkibg our fresh coffee and eating a DELICIOUS hot lunch. The lunch ended up being one of our yummiest and most authentic meals in Moshi. We then drove down to our hotel. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour. Sylvester was the best guide and the entire day was lovely. I also enjoyed that the entire length of the day was dictated by how fast we walked, how much time we wanted to spend at the waterfall, and how we chose to get to the coffee farm. This left us with options as to how we wanted the day to go which I appreciated. Five stars again and again! Thank you Sylvester for such a wonderful day, we will always remember it!

Jambo Jambo! The real African experience. - Awesome experience hiking trough the bush to the Mataruni waterfall. Our knowledgeable tour guide Emanuel went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. Big highlight was the coffee making experience, three days later we’re still singing all the songs they sang for us. Lunch was delicious as well! When in Moshi, make sure you visit!

What an adventure - On the first day of our Tanzania safari we went for a hike to the Kuringe waterfall and Materuni village. Our guide Merci was very nice and told us so much about the plants and coffee growing process. She made sure we reached the waterfall safely, even when the path was sometimes challenging. After the hike we had a great hot lunch in Materuni village and made our own coffee, which was so good! We really had a nice day with Merci and the people in the village.
