Altezza Travel Experience - The Altezza team exceeded my loftiest expectations in each phase of the journey from initial inquiry about their services, to the diligence of the support team on the mountain, the deep knowledge of the guides, and the overall coordination of our travel. Our lead guide, Bosco, was absolutely exceptional in his professionalism, decision making and encouragement throughout the climb. The hike would not have been a success without him and the hard work of the entire team.

Kilimanjaro 6 Day Rongai Route - Altezza is just amazing! I’m still blown away by everything as I lay here pool side at Aishi Hotel. From preparing for the trip (A+ communication), the actual trekking itself (words cannot describe in a review) to post trip accommodation, when my original itinerary changed due to summiting a day early, this company is it. The small touches on the tour that I would not have even thought of doing were stellar! The heated bunnies in the tent each night to morning tent coffee, food, porters, everything was just amazing !

Awesome experience with Altezza on the Rongai Route (6 day / 5 nights) - Great experience with Altezza on the 6 day Rongai route. Our crew of 14 were absolutely outstanding. Myself, my wife and daughter did a private trip had an absolute great time! I can't say enough about our guides, Peter and Richard, they were absolutely great. They truly cared about our experience but most importantly, they cared about our safety (medical checks twice a day). From the very beginning to the end, they were always there for us, especially on the tough summit day. They were so encouraging and keeping our spirits up! The chef Godfrey was outstanding. Our meals were outstanding, breakfast consisted of pancakes, omelets, sausage, porridge, toast, which included peanut butter and nutella. Lunches consisted of vegetable soup, potatoes, various types of pasta, chicken and beef and various types of fruit and vegetables. Dinners were similar to lunch but more expansive. We also has snacks included everyday. We even had popcorn and guacamole! You will not go hungry! can't say enough about the porters, our tents were pitched everyday before we got to camp, fresh water ready, etc...We were always offered various tea and coffee once we arrived at camp. With Altezza everything was very organized, from pick up at the airport, to the safaris we did before the hike and all the transfers between the hotels and ultimately our drop off at the airport. There packing list was spot on, especially for the summit day. We are from Colorado and have all the gear but opted to rent gear as we were heading to Greece afterwards. We rented the duffle bags, sleeping bags (the bags were great!), hat, gloves, mittens, fleeces, rain gear, summit jacket, etc...The only think we brought with us was t-shirts, long underwear, boots and socks, trekking pants. The rental process was easy to do online; however, the night before, when you receive all of your stuff, that takes a little bit of time and you have to double check you received everything. We stayed at the Gran Melia during the safari portion of our trip (great hotel) and the last night before we left. We stayed at the Company owned hotel Aishi Machame (basic hotel, nothing special, clean rooms, etc..) the night before the hike and they stored all of our stuff and valuables. No need to bring anything of value on the hike (You tip at the end of the trip, once you receive all your belongings back at the hotel - we picked up our stuff at the Aishi Machame and then headed to the Gran Melia. You also drop off all the rental stuff at the Aishi hotel as well. The Rongai route was great, no rain and beautiful scenery (not sure why they say it doesn't have the scenery the other routes do). There was a couple other groups hiking the route as well but not terribly crowded. The reason we chose the Rongai route is I didn't want to back track and wanted to see different sides of the mountain. We descended down the Marangu gate, so you don't repeat any portion. A couple tips: Summit day - for the bottom - thin long underwear, heavy wool long under and ski pants, heavy wool socks (i also used foot warmers). Top - tshirt, thin long underwear, heavy wool long underwear, thin fleece, heavy fleece and summit jacket (Ski jacket). Fleece hat and my summit jacket had a hood. I also brought a balaclava that I never used. I had heavy mittens and fleece gloves with hand warmers. Overall I was warm, feet did get a little cold but warmed up once the sun rose on the summit. The water on the mountain was great, but I did bring crystal light to give a little variety to the water. We also brought music to listen to while we climbed. Cell service and wifi (Kibo has wifi) is spotty. Also, rent the port a pottie, much better than using what is at camp. Overall I can't say enough about how great Altezza was! Just a couple side notes, the speed limit is 50 KPH all around the area and police check points every where. So everything takes longer to get to than you would think!

I highly recommend Altezza due to their seriousness and professionalism. Most importantly, their commitment to safety is paramount.

They hiked a cake up for my birthday!! - An amazing adventure! Couldn’t have done it without Altezza. I did both the Kilimanjaro hike and safari with them. The team kept us strong, healthy, very well fed, motivated, and safe. The guides and porters were informative and experienced. Altezza team was very communicative and helpful in planning/arranging my birthday trip from beginning to end, from hotel stays, food, Kilimanjaro, and Safari. They had someone hike a cake up and surprised me with a little birthday party. Got to see all kinds of animals in our safari as well. I’ve already begun referring Altezza to many people. Thank you Altezza for one of my greatest achievements and most memorable trips/birthdays..!!!
