This bespoke Day Trip offers an opportunity to immerse oneself in the lifestyle of the Berber people by traversing through Berber hamlets and enjoying a midday meal with a Berber household in their residence. Your journey will trace the ancient mule pathways passing quaint villages, providing a breathtaking visual feast of the majestic Atlas mountains, with glimpses all the way to Toubkal. The journey on foot typically takes between 5 to 6 hours.
Your day commences with a pick-up from your Marrakech hotel around 9:00 for your transfer to Imlil. Rest assured that we do not make unnecessary stops at commercial stalls or stores unless you express a desire to.
Upon reaching Imlil, you’re received with a warm mint tea and introduced to your tour guide. You’ll have a chance to discuss your preferences, available time, and physical fitness level. Given that your Day Trip is private, we have some flexibility to tailor the trip to cater to your needs.
We provide an additional mule at no extra cost in case there are kids in the group who may want to ride or rest. We are also open to arranging for an extra mule for groups comprised solely of adults upon request.

Loved this trek! - This trek was a huge highlight of our trip, and we're so glad we found Trek Atlas! Ahmed runs a fantastic company which is very responsive, accommodating, and truly locally-based. Abdul led our two-day trek, and it was clear he knew the area like the back of his hand. During our time in the village, he knew everyone - it's clear that this company is rooted in the community. From the start of the planning process through the return to Marrakech, this was a positive experience. We'd highly recommend working with Trek Atlas!

Fantastic trek into the high Atlas - A really fantastic, memorable and well organised trip.
Ahmed was responsive and ensured we had all the information we needed before the trek.
Our guide Idriss was a native and was an excellent, informative guide, person and now friend. His father was also a guide, so it was in his blood. Idriss was kind, humble and had excellent english. We learned so much about the Berber culture and history from him.
The hiking from Imlil was well paced and could be altered according to ability.
It was an honour to be welcomed into a local Berber family’s home for a delicious meal in Armoud.
The guesthouse was a welcome break. The food and hospitality great. Make sure you have plenty of warm clothes at night!
Nothing was too much trouble and Ahmed met us at the finish of the trek to ensure we were happy with everything.
Our transfers to and from Marrakech were smooth.
We have no hesitation recommending Ahmed and Trek Atlas and of course Idriss.

A fabulous trip from start to finish! - A Fabulous trip from start to finish! We had been in conversation with Ahmed, the owner fo the company, and he was fantastic answering our questions so we were prepared for our private day trip. Our guide, Nordine, is a native of the village where we had our Delicious lunch so he has grown up in these mountains and knows them well. Views were stunning, the walk was well-paced, and Nordine was a great source of local and historical information. We learned so much about Berber culture, language and history!
It had snowed recently so the path down the mountain would have been treacherous had Nordine not been so vigilant and encouraging. He was awesome, upbeat, safety conscious, and inspired confidence at every step. We were glad for his expertise and also very glad to support this local business.
Ahmed, who is also from this same village, made a point to meet us at the end and make sure all had gone well. Very professional. Our driver, Rashid, made our trip smooth and got us back to Marrakesh safely and efficiently.
I had not booked through Trip Advisor but directly with Ahmed at [email protected] if you'd like to contact him. I believe in this way All of the money we paid for the excursion goes to the families of the village who are the guides, the cooks and the organizers.

Magical Day in Atlas Mountains - Trekking through the Atlas mountains was an absolutely incredible experience! The scenery was breathtaking, with stunning panoramic views of the snow capped peaks and lush valleys. My knowledgeable guide Abdel provided fascinating insights into the local culture and is just a lovely person who enjoys his village. This trek exceeded all expectations and left me with unforgettable memories. Highly recommend this adventure to nature lovers and adventure seekers!

Fantastic tour - I went on a four days three night walking trek in January organised by Ahmed at Trek Atlas and I can unreservedly recommend them. When I met Ahmed before we started his first priority was safety , in terms of my kit and also the route , and I was impressed by that . My guide Abdel and our cook/ mule owner Ibrahim were both 5 star , friendly , very professional, very happy to answer questions / provide information, and over the four days we also had lots of fun. This was my first tour in the region . I'm a fit 65 year old and the tour was very manageable, but Ahmed is so flexible I know that he'd be able to adjust routes to fit with your fitness / things you'd like to see . I'm going to go again later in the year , and as I say , I can thoroughly recommend this company and the people working for them .

Amazing hike in the Atlas Mts - Amazing trip with Abdel organised by Ahmed
I thought it was expensive to begin with but then we had to drive 2 hrs nearly to get to imlil.
We did a private tour hike and lunch….didnt feel rushed at any stage during the day and stopped to have an amazing lunch in one of the villages above imlil, which had amazing views and amazing food.
Abdel was very nice and we wandered and chatted to him for a few hrs in the Mts which was just lovely. The Mts were covered in snow and it was a nice sunny day….abdel told us about the villages and the people there and how they lived.
One of the best tours I’ve been on in Morocco

Trek with our 2-year old daughter - We did 5-6 hours trek from Imlil to a Berber village with our 2 years old daughter. Everything was well-organized and perfectly tailored to our wishes and needs. The trek was absolutely amazing, and we felt very welcome. The lunch we were served was delicious. Abdu, who guided us, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Since the hike was too demanding for a two-year-old, we were provided with a mule who helped us carry our daughter. We were picked up in Marrakech in the morning and started the hike as soon as we arrived in Imlil. We wanted to stay overnight in Imlil, so we arranged for transportation back to Marrakech the following day. We needed a car seat for the transport, which was provided.

Unforgettable experience - We did a 7-day trekking trough the Atlas mountains and it was unforgettable! Included in the price, we got a taxi from Marrakesh to Imlil. In Imlil we met Ahmed and our Guide Abdul to share information about the route. In 7 days, we had unbelievable views and such a nice time with our guide Abdul. He was very well prepared, a responsible guide and most of all a super nice person. In addition to that, there was also a cook and a mule with us the whole trekking. The cook provided us everyday with a delicious meal and the mule carried our bags the whole trip. We experienced the real Berber culture and slept in traditional guesthouses. We also went to the highest Berber village, which was stunning. We will never forget about this trip. Thank you for this experience Ahmed, Abdul and Ibrahim.

Excellent Tour - We had to change plans at the last minute because skiing was cancelled. The tour accommodated us, going from a group of 2 to 6. Our guide, Nordi, was excellent. The food was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The mountains and scenery were beautiful.
