Trip of a lifetime - Wonderful 1st experience whale watching!! The guides were wonderful and so friendly. The boat wasn’t over crowded. There was a time we could look any direction and see a humpback. I definitely suggest doing this sometime in your lifetime!!

Wow! An experience of a lifetime! - Wow what a trip! The boat was great and not overloaded with people with plenty of room to move around. The whole crew were brilliant and the information we were given throughout our trip was knowledgeable, interesting and delivered with charm and humour. We found ourselves in a feeding frenzy of seabirds, sea lions and yes, whales! Lots of them!! What I really liked was the boat didn’t harass the sea life we just floated and let them come around us, which they did! After quite a while we set off through the fog bank in search of different whales and we weren’t disappointed. White sided dolphins shot around and under the boat and then joy of joys, a blue whale!! A very memorable trip, a joy to experience.

Be sure to book! Highly recommended - We went on a 4 hour whale watching trip at Discovery in Monterey in early October 24. We received a friendly welcome in the morning and received our board cards. On time we were received for safety-breefing and immediately afterwards we went on the boat. Boot: A modern spacious boat with ample seating outside as well as inside. Tip: if you are prone to nausea on the water, better sit outside in the fresh air and look at the horizon. The boat was well filled but not too crowded, so everyone could go to the appropriate side to watch whales. Trash cans as well as a toilet were also available. Crew: We had Isaiah as our guide. You could tell immediately that he liked to do his job and was there with passion. He asked curiously about the origin of the guests and greeted even us Germans with “Welcome” and the Japanese in their language. Very sympathetic. He told us some general facts about the area and the waters as well as the whales. As a result, the ride was short-lived. He answered all questions gladly and in detail. Jessy was the deckman and took care of those who got sick. On our trip there were actually some (5-6). Normally, according to his statement, it's 1-2 people. Captain JJ did a good job, too, in our opinion. Sufficient distance was kept from the whales so that they were not unnecessarily stressed. However, it was close enough to take good photos. Conclusion: All in all a really good trip with great crew and great sights. During our trip we saw around 20 different humpback whales as well as sea lions and otters. On other trips, other species such as blue whales, orcas and various fish are also said to be seen. We definitely recommend Discovery Whale Watching. Expect you to get nauseous eventually. Especially if you work a lot with your camera/mobile phone, this can happen quickly. So take anti-nausea pills with you as a safety precaution or just let it get to you. Fresh air and always looking at the horizon is a good tip. Also drink enough. A toilet is on board. This was also clean and sufficiently large. Even if the water looks calm from land and no wind blows, the ocean is usually not completely calm and makes the boat rock properly. It's and will be the Pacific Ocean Shortly before arriving at the port, the crew had discovered a balloon in the water which was unceremoniously fished out of the water. Guide Isaiah then gave a brief explanation of why balloons are dangerous for the ocean

Excellent trip, well organised, and importantly, found the whale action. Well recommended.. - Excellent trip with clean and roomy boat and not overcrowded. The team was knowledgeable and fun, adding to the enjoyment. We saw lots of whale action with sealion and bird feeding frenzy near the boat. Safety briefing and organisation also gave confidence in the team.

Very wavy boat driving - Overall I took 4 times of this tour already, the 3 stars is for this past Monday boat. In all 4 journeys, this is rhe only time that I want to throw up since the beginning. And not only me, lots of people on the boat puked as part of the trip, which I never saw other boats have this issue. I am not sure if it is the captain’s problem or not.
