Gorgeous monument with an exceptional guide, Anne-Isabelle - Our tour guide, Anne-Isabelle was phenomenal! We enjoyed the history, lore and stories she had about Mont-Saint Michel. The passion and care she has for the site really shined through and added color and texture to an already breathtaking location. She was fun, charismatic, and truly cared about our experience. She was also incredibly patient with us and the quantity of photos we wanted to take. If we could go back and do it all again, we’d choose her again and again.
If you’re visiting in peak season and planning to take the shuttle to be at the meeting point for this tour, budget more time than you think you need. We did the 30 minute walk both ways because we heard the lines for the shuttle were 50+ minutes. Thankfully it was a breezy day and the walk was really enjoyable.
Completely separate and outside the control of the tour company, we visited at a time when Mont St Michel was incorporating art installations (Summer 2025). Maybe in an effort to attract more tourism. Personally, I wish the art wouldn’t have been there and I wish I could write to Mont St Michel to talk about how it detracted from the experience. The Abbey had a large moon blocking the view of what would’ve been an iconic photo moment, the cloister which should be a tranquil place for contemplation had a disco ball, and the refectory had a walk over water art installation that was closed for safety.

Wonderful tour of Mt Saint-Michel - Myriam was an amazing guide, who helped us understand the history and significance of this beautiful landmark. She was informative and thorough, communicated very well, and made this experience truly special. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk a lot of stairs!

A great guide makes all the difference - Our guide was fantastic. She kept us to our own pace and was incredibly knowledgeable about every part of the history. We never would’ve had such a great experience, trying to navigate the Abbey on our own.

Disappointed & dissatisfied. - Given the amount charged for our private tour in English, we were quite unsatisfied with our tour. The site itself is spectacular. We were, unfortunately, underwhelmed by our guide Erwan. He was friendly enough and certainly seemed knowledgeable about Mont St. Michele, but he did not provide a cohesive presentation of its history from either a theologic or secular perspective. His approach seemed to us more like a random stream of conscientiousness for whatever popped into his head at the moment, regardless of chronology or subject matter, which was difficult to follow. In addition, his relatively heavy french accent made it difficult for us to comfortably understand his english. He also assumed we had a some level of knowledge about the history and characters involved over the centuries, as he often would start telling a story or sharing a bit of information about an individual or period of time without any background, yet we had no idea who or what he was talking about. Erwan also had a bad habit of talking while turning and walking away without checking to see if we were following him or still viewing something or taking a photo. Even if following him it made it even more difficult to hear or understand what he was saying, rather than him stopping & facing us when speaking.
